This is a review of the PowerStop Evolution Carbon Fiber and Ceramic Rear Brake Pads for my 2021 Mazda CX-5. Overall, I’m a fan. I also have PowerStop pads on the front of my vehicle, and they’ve consistently performed well—quiet, smooth, and responsive.For the price, you get a solid value. The hardware is decent, the pads themselves feel well-built, and it even includes grease and new caliper bolt boots. Well—supposed to, at least.Unfortunately, the package I received had clearly been tampered with. The inner shrink-shrinkwrapped package was already opened, and the caliper pin boots were missing. Thankfully, the existing boots on my car were still in good condition, so I was able to proceed. Still, it’s frustrating.One of the reasons I chose this kit again was because of how complete it is. It’s rare to find a set that includes the boots along with the pads, grease, and hardware. That’s a big convenience, and something I really appreciate when doing my own work.To be clear, this feels like a quality control issue at the seller or warehouse level—not a manufacturing defect. Most likely someone bought the kit, took what they needed, returned it, and it got reshelved without inspection.Despite that, I’m still giving it 5 out of 5 stars. The Power Stop Z23 Evolution Sport Carbon Fiber infused Ceramic brake pads are everything they claim to be, a very powerful set of brake pads. Fairly immediately you’ll notice a braking “bite” that gets stronger and stronger as the new brakes set in. I never experienced that with the stock pads. At first there was a slight squeak when in reverse but that has gone away. I have much better stopping power now with my 2019 Mazda CX-5 Signature model.

I have been buying these break pads for years now when needed and they are a great buy for the price. However recently purchasing from Amazon the packages have been opened and/or I have received used break pads. Even when purchasing from power stop. I would even go as far as some of them being counterfeit but cannot confirm that. Just be aware prior to installing.

Excellent pads for the money. I installed these on both my Mazda cx-5 and bmw z3. Stopping power is improved. On the mx5 it's about 5-10% better over the factory pads. On the z3 a solid 10% better. No squeaking either.
