Sometimes, you want to change the key, eg: a dispute with a former roommate or change in tenants. Instead of changing the whole lock, you can change the key cylinder only. They are very easy to change. No locksmith required if you are smart and good with manual things. You remove the lock, pull the former cylinder, put the new one and put back the lock. Same principle with doorknob.

I bought this to swap out an old cylinder. I don't know if it's slop or variation in manufacturing.This was literally 1mm too tall to fit. I figured no problem I can shave 1mm from the top. Nope. The top is only

J’ai remplacé la serrure de ma porte patio. C’était beaucoup plus économique que de tout changé le système.

Watched youtube instructions, punch out the hole. First try failed because I got it upside down. So it would not lock or unlock. After reversing the orientation, works like new.
