Don't take my word for it, there is many sources online that thoroughly analyze most of the water filtering brands in multiple parameters.I thought the extreme slowness of PUR filter was due to superior performance, you know, longer time to pass through = better filtering.I was baffled when I saw how poorly it performed in most categories.I will replace it immediately for a particular brand that performed remarkably well at a lower cost.In addition to the bad filtering capabilities, the design is only good looking. Pretty much every part fails to perform its dutties. (water seal, capricious water dispensing mobile lid...)Pur: Less money on marketing and design and more into engineering...

Hard to get a good pic, but the first shipment arrived cracked on the inside, which made the 'one-handed fill' lid unable to sit on top of the hinges... Basically the lid did not seal to prevent dust and things from getting in, so I ordered a replacement that arrived either the next day or day after! Simple solution!Note: I don't like it when reviews are made with 1 or 2 stars, based on shipping or broken objects alone (I always just skip past those reviews), since I know that shipping from the warehouses are what allows for the free 2-day shipping option to be possible, and they really don't make money off of this option. To take off stars for this is incorrectly reviewing the actual seller & item (vs. the warehouse itself), unless the seller's packaging or inside materials is for sure what caused the damage. Since it was my first item to arrive broken, I just wanted to mention that Amazon replaced it. UPS arrived next day.Anyway, as for the pitcher, the new one shipped to me works great and was the only black colored PUR pitcher I could find, so I am happy with it. It's small enough to leave space in our fridge, but large enough for the 2 of us to drink our daily water from without running out. I heard the taste isn't as good on the first poor, so we emptied that batch into glasses to mix with iced tea and then refilled, and the second batch of filtered water tasted much better than the tap! Tasted less chlorinated and I don't have to worry about dust or lead. The one-handed fill option makes it very easy to refill after pouring a glass as well. Works as described.

it removes the taste of chlorine but gives the water a weird taste, water becomes similar to the taste of Aquafina water, it taste like a chemical with plastic smell, im better off using my charcoal for removing chlorine

The 7 cup PUR water filter pitcher has become a staple in my house. This is a replacement for one that I had for many years. My old one had seen better days.I had debated whether to purchase the 11 cup pitcher. After a discussion with my family, I decided to stick with the 7 cup one. It fits better in the fridge and is still pretty light. The 7 cup pitcher also fits perfect in our fridge. It does not take up valuable space. We do have a rule in our house to refill it before putting it back in the fridge.The filters. I really wanted the black top pitcher. I think it looks very sleek and modern. The only way to purchase the black top pitcher was with the Lead water filter. I use both the Lead water filters and the regular PUR water filters. When there were stories about Lead in the water, I switched to the Lead water filters. When I learned our pipes do not have lead, I switch back and forth depending on the availability of each type of filter. This is because though the lead water filters of course take out the lead. They also take forever to filter the water. When I have the lead filters in, I feel like there is always an empty pitcher in the fridge. I prefer just the regular water filters. They filter the water quickly making refilling it easier and less time consuming. It takes about two complete fills to fill the entire pitcher.We have also tried other brands of water filtering systems. PUR is definitely my favorite when it comes to taste.
