Let me paint a picture for you. It’s the middle of summer, and the heat is unbearable. Our garage feels like an oven, and the attic? A sauna. I was desperate for a solution and stumbled upon the Quietcool AFG SMT PRO-3.0 Smart Attic Fan. Skeptical it would make a difference, I decided to give it a shot. Boy, am I glad I did!Pros:• Effective Cooling: This fan is a game-changer. It makes going into the attic in the summer to grab something actually bearable. And the garage? It’s like night and day—significantly cooler.• Easy App Connection: Connecting the app to my phone was a breeze. Controlling the fan settings has never been so easy.• Quiet Operation: Even on high speed, the fan is barely audible unless you’re right under it and outside. The sound is not overpowering at all.• Improved AC Performance: Since installing the fan, my air conditioner has had no trouble maintaining the set point. In previous years, the AC struggled to keep up during the hot months.• Flexible Installation: The unit comes with cardboard trim to accommodate various vent sizes, making installation easier.• Appearance: The sleek design blends seamlessly with the existing vent, maintaining the aesthetic of the house.• Fit: The unit fit perfectly over the gable vent, thanks to the adjustable cardboard trim.• Power: This fan packs a punch with its impressive 2940 CFM, ensuring maximum ventilation.• Durability: Built to last, this fan feels robust and durable, ready to withstand the test of time.• Value for Money: Considering its performance and features, this fan offers great value for money.Cons:• Installation Requires Two People: Trust me on this—it’s difficult and potentially dangerous to hold and mount by yourself. A second pair of hands is essential.• Additional Supplies Needed: Be prepared with a roll of heavy-duty tape for the seams and around the fan to ensure everything is secure.• Outlet Required: You must have an outlet in your attic to run the fan.• Challenging Summer Installation: Installing this in the summer heat is tough. Plan accordingly. To give you some background, my house was built in 1993. I added blown-in insulation above the garage and in spots above our ranch, which likely helped the overall cooling.Overall, I am beyond satisfied with this purchase. If you’re looking to improve your home’s cooling efficiency, I highly recommend the Quietcool AFG SMT PRO-3.0 Smart Attic Fan. This fan has made a tremendous difference in our home, and I’m sure it will do the same for you!

I'm thrilled with my QuietCool Smart Attic Gable Fan! As someone who's always looking for ways to improve my home's comfort and energy efficiency, this little gadget has quickly become a favorite.Installation & Setup Breeze:One of the things I loved most about this fan was how easy it was to install. No need for an electrician or special tools – I had it up and running in under an hour. The clear instructions and helpful online resources made the process smooth and stress-free.Smart App Takes Control:The smart app is another major selling point. Setting it up on my phone took just a few minutes, and now I have complete control over the fan right from my fingertips. I can turn it on and off, adjust the speed, and even set schedules based on temperature and humidity levels.Real-Time Monitoring:Speaking of temperature and humidity, the app also displays real-time readings from built-in sensors. This is a fantastic feature that lets me keep an eye on my attic's climate and ensure the fan is operating efficiently.Performance that Impresses:But the true test of any attic fan is its performance, and the AFG SMT PRO-3.0 doesn't disappoint. It delivers powerful airflow that quickly cools down my attic on even the hottest days. My energy bills have already started to reflect the improved ventilation, and I'm confident I'll see even more savings over time.Overall, I highly recommend the QuietCool Smart Attic Gable Fan to anyone looking for an easy-to-install, effective, and energy-saving way to cool their attic. It's a worthwhile investment that will keep your home comfortable and your wallet happy.Pros:Easy installationSmart app control with temperature and humidity monitoringPowerful airflowEnergy-efficient operationDurable constructionCons:Initial cost may be higher than some basic attic fansI would definitely give this fan a 5 out of 5 star rating.

The fan is quiet and moves a lot of air. It is well built. The Bluetooth connection and control app work well. I loved being able to simply plug it in and then set it up through the phone app. But, there seemed to be one major flaw I hadn't realized: custom settings were not saved when there was no power, either on the fan or the web via the app. By default, both the Smart Mode and Timer Mode are off. Thus, at first, when the power went off, the fan did not work until it was once again paired with the phone via Bluetooth and turned on with the app.I struggled this, testing the unit after I had installed it in the attic. The gable vent I used is very difficult to access, so, before I installed it, I installed the app, plugged the fan in, paired the fan and phone, set the presets and turned on the very handy "Smart Mode" so the fan would work when my desired temperature and/or humidity was reached. It never occurred to me that this information may not be stored. After install, I cut the power, and then the unit would not come on until I paired my phone again and went through the set-up process (including the serial number) and turned on Smart Mode. Ugh.I contacted QuietCool and had a very helpful and honest chat to ensure I wasn't missing something. The recommendation given to me was to get some Romex wire and lengthen the line from the fan to the Bluetooth hub so the hub reaches a more accessible place. However, I'm not sure if there was a small software glitch, or a delay in saving my settings, but even though my testing failed and I was concerned, months later the power went out and the fan came back on just fine. The settings had been saved, even though the app didn't appear to have remembered the settings. Did it just take some time for the settings to "set"?I haven't had any problems. My app still sometimes showed things not being set, but I have never had a problem. This morning, I noticed a firmware upgrade and installed it. My first impressions are that the phone app anomalies are fixed. Even better!

Our attic fan finally gave in, and I had procrastinated on getting it replaced. For months, we actually saw our electric bill be higher than usual by about $20-$40/month due to the increased AC usage. In the three or four months I could have replaced the attic fan, we lost all that money to air conditioning -- a whopping $60-$160 -- that could have easily paid for this fan! Serves me right for procrastinating, but I really, really did not want to go into the hot attic to begin with. Now that weather has cooled down, I finally bought this fan and installed it.INSTALLATIONWas very straight-forward. Just follow the included instruction guide. It tells you how to rewire to existing electric wires (if you don't plan on using the included wall plug).WARNING: the wall plug was included so you can test it prior to mounting to the attic. Don't do what I did: I tested the fan on top of our kitchen island, and the moment it turned on, it started moving around. Instinctively, I probably would have tried to grab the fan from falling that could have resulted in my fingers getting chopped off! So, if you want to test the fan, be sure to have it on the FLOOR and put some heavy thing around it to keep it from moving!Don't forget to attach the dampener to the 4 metal pieces that you put the screws through. This helps keep vibration to a minimum. The install guide tells you how the fan should be mounted in order to ensure the best air flow.NOISEAt the lowest fan setting, it's very quiet. Set it to the highest, and you can hear it from several rooms away. It's LOUD but also has a really powerful suction.APPApp (for Android and Apple iOS) was easily paired to the fan's controller. Once that was done, you could configure it to use WiFi to check for firmware updates. My fan was already up to date when I checked a few weeks ago. With the app, you cannot turn on/off the fan (manufacturer says that this is not needed since consumers hardly ever need to do so -- the fan turns on/off automatically based on humidity and temperature), but you CAN set it to use specific presets where you could control when the fan turns on or off (and at what speed). You could, perhaps, set up a custom preset that would force the fan to turn on or off by setting the temperature limit to something ridiculous. The app connects to the fan via Bluetooth. So, there is a range limitation on where you can control or view the status from.
