For about $15 or less, this radio is quite the bargain. FM Reception is decent (not bad at all, but certainly not the best in terms of compact radios). It's built very well and feels sturdy in the hand. The built-in speaker is much better than most compact radios under $30 I have tried. It says "special-bass" on the grille, but honestly what it does do is provide a bit more of a fill-range sound vs. the "tinny" sounds a lot of radios this small has. This makes it easier to listen to as the midrange is a bit fuller than most. The USB/BT features are really not something I'll likely ever use, but I guess it's good that it is there. This is not a "hi-fi" radio though, so just know that going in. It will provide very adequate background noise, however. For a small little pocket radio, this is a steal at less than $15. If you're looking for something this size and don't want to spend a bunch of money, I don't think you'd be disappointed with this one.

An effort but not well executed in my opinion. I got this to use as a legit radio not the BT function. Well the stations are hard to sift thru and I don’t think the numbers correspond properly. It’s just hard to work to get thru stations and program them. The sound it good and great small size but just not happy. When you turn it on always starts on Bluetooth not what you shut it off on and it start with the volume loud. Keep looking don’t buy

I remember the early Japanese transistor radios. It didn't matter that they sounded tinny. Music was now portable! The JOC FM radio improves dramatically on sound quality, and--because it's USB rechargeable--avoids the need to constantly replace batteries. At less than $15, this multifunction radio is a steal. However, there's only a small page of instructions that aren't very clear, so you'll probably need to experiment. Here are some tips to get you started:In FM mode, a full scan of the FM band will automatically assign a channel number to every identified station. To scan or rescan, press the FM button to switch to FM mode and then hold the FM and Pause/Play buttons together until the scan begins. When it's done, you can play a particular station either typing its assigned number or go up or down one station at a time by tapping the Forward or Back button. Note that there's no apparent way to delete stations you don't like.If you want to stream music from a computer through the radio, switch to Bluetooth mode by tapping the MP3 button, open the Bluetooth Setting on your computer, and then Connect to the JOC-BT item that's discovered. Open your music program, select a song or album, and then click the program's Play button. Although the radio can also play MP3s that are stored on an inserted micro-USB card, I haven't tested it. The radio has a built-in bass boost and includes a set of wired earbuds.Although music won't sound as clean as a CD, the quality is very acceptable. Like me, if you miss being able to listen to your favorite local radio stations, I'm confident you'll be pleased with this radio.

I really feel due to many usability issues this is 3.5 stars, but that is not a choice so I rounded up to 4 because of the sound quality.Where to start? I wanted to really like this radio/music player. I like the size. The sound quality is quite good when playing via bluetooth or playing an mp3 on an inserted (not provided) microSD card. The sound quality when playing FM was great- very noisy. I tried a number of very strong stations but the sound was consistently scratchy and noisy. The unit also can get very loud, surprisingly loud, and I didn't detect any distortion. There was also more bass response than I would expect from a 2" speaker. The build quality is also acceptable. It is plastic of course, but it seems well made and should hold up.My issues with this player are all with regards to the user interface, which is really quite disappointing. I have reviewed a number of mp3 players and one of my pet peeves is the lack of a shuffle mode when playing my mp3s. I really don't want to listen to my music in alphabetical order, or even the same order, all of the time. This player only supports playback in alphabetical order. At least it picks up where it left off between power cycles so it doesn't start at the beginning each time thank goodness. Deduct 1 star.I spent some time trying to figure out how to set the radio presets. The terse 1 page manual was not very helpful though I did eventually stumble across it. You must hold down the M button and the button beside it with the looping arrows. While you hold those buttons down it scans to the next station and automatically saves it to the next preset. I was able to set 23 presets in this manner for all of the stations I can receive across the dial. But there doesn't seem to be a way to NOT save a preset if you don't want that station saved. And there is no way I could find to delete a preset. Deduct 1 half a star.If you turn the radio off while playing FM and then you turn it back on, it comes on in MP3 mode (if you have a card inserted). At least it does remember what station you were listening to when you turned it off, so when you hit the FM button to go back to FM it reverts to that station. The on/off button is fairly hard to access. It is almost flush with the radio surface and is difficult to move. There are many buttons that don't do anything useful. There is an M button which is for mode and cycles you between FM, Bluetooth and MP3 (if a card is inserted). There are also 2 dedicated and redundant buttons - FM and MP3, but no bluetooth dedicated button. Fortunately when I powered it up the first time and put it into bluetooth mode it was in pairing mode so I was able to pair with it and play some music. But I don't know how to forget that pairing so I can pair with something else. Maybe when the paired device is not connected it will pair? A dedicated bluetooth button would solve this issue by allowing a long press to put it into pairing mode the way the other 10 million bluetooth devices work.Overall if all you want is an mp3 player that will play your music from a card, and it acceptable to play it in the same alphabetical order all of the time, this player isn't a bad choice. It has decent sound, can get quite loud, and the battery life is pretty good. As an FM radio it is OK as well. You will want to scan for all of your stations so they will be on presets as punching in the 4 digit station frequencies can get quite old. As a bluetooth speaker it performs decently, again producing room-filling sound of decent quality.

For such a modest price I was not expecting the sturdy, modern FM (only) portable radio, MP3 player and bluetooth speaker this actually is. I really only wanted it as a basic radio but I did also test play MP3s on it from a thumb drive which worked perfectly (it just ignores file types other than MP3 on your thumb drive). I even love the color. And it's a simple thing, but I appreciate that it includes a wrist loop. The radio weighs 9.3 ounces on my postal scale. You get a basic set of earbuds and a basic USB A to C charging cable with it. The charger is not included--or you could charge it from a computer's USB port. The USB-C port on the radio is the DC charging port. When you hold down the FM and loop buttons together it scrolls through the FM band from 87.5-108 MHZ identifying the available radio stations in your location, and then saves them so next time you can scroll right through the channels using the scroll forward/back buttons. It also has bluetooth mode (if you wanted to use this as a wireless speaker, apparently--I tested that that works with my PC). There is port in the bottom to accept a TF or MicroSD memory card that you could store MP3s on. There is also a USB-A port in it which cannot be used for charging the device but I plugged in a USB thumb drive that had MP3s on it which worked perfectly! Again, if you don't want a big thumb drive sticking out of it just use a tiny TF/MicroSD card. The battery compartment is actually easy to open (enough so that I am thinking about putting some tape on it since I have no need to open it) so if the rechargeable 3.7v battery ever died it looks like you could buy a new one from somewhere and just swap it in. This is not a normal AA or AAA battery.I'm very impressed with the range of functions this has and the ease with which I was able to test them. Also, it will clearly last a very long time between charges. The model of this radio is H456BT.It has quite a minimal/poor manual (which I've shown in a photo). It deserves a better manual. I did not have a hard time at all figuring out how to use it without even looking at the manual.
