If you have gear that is lightweight enough to cast these little lures (I use the one inchers) they are a blast when fish are in a surface feeding mode as they run about a foot deep. I have caught everything from panfish/crappie to trout and bass. Hooking up with a decent sized bass with the light to ultra-light gear used to fish these little lures is wild. A steady retrieve to twitching/jerking works, depending on the mood of the fish.[edit] I just took a glance at the one star reviews. Don't let the complaints affect your decision about this lure. As is often the case, what we have here is an issue with customers who don't do adequate research into the product. The lure is offered in different sizes. The one inch lure has one hook at the tail. Larger versions also have a second hook at the ventral position.

We love the Rapala Countdown lineup, we usually use they CD7 and CD9 in either brown or rainbow trout colors for 20+ inch trout in rivers, but we use the smaller CD3 and CD5 ones for lakes/reservoirs and to piss off some picky fish like this Kokanee my son caught by Breckenridge
