So far, this light has proven reliable. It is a dusk to dawn light and turns on when the sun goes down, regardless of the remote control settings. There is however, 3 additional settings that will turn the light off after 3, 5 or 8 hours if you don’t want it on until the sun comes up. The solar panel is rugged with a sturdy mounting bracket and the light is housed in a well-made aluminum shell which should hold up well when exposed to the elements. One thing that the product page doesn’t mention is that the light has a set of colored LEDs indicating the status of battery charge. Most of the times I’ve checked it during the day, all the lights are lit and the green light is flashing, which I believe indicates it is charging. When the green light is solid, I’m assuming it’s reached full charge.There are 3 levels of brightness that can be set on the light, but they can only be dimmed once the light turns on at dusk. In other words, if you set the light to anything but full brightness, it will not remember that setting and will turn on at full brightness the next night.There is one confusing setting on the remote. There are buttons for the 3 durations, 3, 5 and 8 hours, and then there is an AUTO button. If I press 3 hours, it will turn on for 3 hours every night, so I don’t understand what the AUTO button does any differently than pressing a duration button.

Lite is quite bright..100w..but can be lowered down..last one lasted about 3 or 4 years then just wore out I suppose...but we'll worth the price for free solar power...

And it's brighter than both of them put together. This light is more of a security light than an ambience light. It's got the cold bluish white color that you use when you just want to see, but not when you are lighting up a dinner party on the rear deck. Installing it is pretty easy, you just have to screw in a few screws. It's also much higher quality than a lot of other solar lights, and the detached panels opens up a lot of options you don't have with other lights. I am lighting up a shaded part of my house that couldn't be lit with a panel attached to the light. I had two lights there and they couldn't get enough juice in the day to even have full brightness.

I have an acre of land that is situated so the bulk of the land is a side yard. The house and garage have outdoor lighting that covers those areas well but I wanted to be able to see the side yard better. This solar light was the solution I needed. Made sure to read through the installation instructions that came with the kit to ensure that it was solidly installed and would stay put during strong winds and heavy snow. It was decently easy to get set up. That side of the house is very high so that was really the biggest challenge of installation. The solar panel gets the morning sun and charges up. The light kicks on a little before sun down because that side of the house gets darker faster. It definitely lights up and shows the whole yard very well. I did test it before installation to see how bright it was because I didn't want to shine it directly at the neighbors house but I also wanted to have a good amount of light in mine. It is bright so it's a nice thing to keep in mind for neighbors.

Installation not easy as it says remote has to be pointed directly and not very far away from unit
