After trying "Tom's Key" service for key and remote self programming, the key worked but remote wouldn't and Toms said its because I had after market alarm system. I bought truck used so I dont know what system it has. I tried this remote and followed Youtube "programming Toyota tacoma remote" and it worked perfectly, easy to program. Thanks!

I've been battling my fob on my 2005 Tacoma for a year or so. It was intermittent...sometimes it worked sometimes it didn't. I purchased this unit and went through the programing steps that I found online via their website URL (and there are several out there). It didn't work because my truck wouldn't go into the programming mode for recognizing the new fob...I read a little deeper as to why this didn't work on few chat rooms and came across a post that instantly fixed the programming process / steps. You might want to try this first before purchasing this fob. Your current fob may still be operational (do the latter steps in this post before you purchase) If you find that your vehicle will not go into the programming mode...there is a small white transmit / receiver box located in your glove box. The glove box is easy to remove. Remove it and then remove one screw that holds the roof to the glove box (it's right by the catch for the box). After removing, look up in there close to the front of the dash (towards the seat). You will see a little white (in my case) box up in there. Unplug the plug to this box. Wait 15 seconds and plug it back in. Wala! Now see if your vehicle will go into the fob programing mode. Try your old fob again or program the new one if you purchased one. My old and new fobs work fine now. Ssssnice!! Hope this was helpful.

Works great for my 2011 Highlander. Much much cheaper than the dealer key fob which was about $240 CAD. Although it's $200 cheaper, it feels more durable than the stock key fob. Great purchase, highly recommend to those who need a key fob replacement.
