Keeps the snake warm. He's still alive so i guess it's doing the job well. Integrated thermostat is awesome

Good pad, a bit complicated to set. Cords could be longer.

I bought 2 of these in different sizes. This small one to warm a 10 gallon terrarium for my crested gecko and a larger one for a tub of Dubia roaches. Neither one will warm more than a couple degrees above ambient. I even insulated the back side of them hoping they would get a bit warmer but no luck. I've had both of them set at 80 degrees for over a month and they just run non stop and stay maybe 2-3 degrees over room temp. I've had other heat pads of the same sizes that have no issues like this. Unless you are trying to heat an object or something, these are probably not going to work for you.

We bought one of these for our senior(19) cat who has been searching for warm spots to lie down over the winter. Plenty warm in the house but much like older humans, feeling warm seems to be different than being warm. We keep the house at about 75 in the winter because we are indulgent like that. So, we looked into regular human heating pads but they almost all have timer shut offs and get too warm even on a low setting for a set-and-forget type of use. These heating pads are perfect because they have that PID feature with a remote temp sensor. So, we put the pad(with its adhesive protective backing still on Raja's favorite resting pad, put a heavy towel(think plush bath towel) over that, plugged it in and set it at 90 degrees. With the temp probe right on the heating pad surface(sticky side up so it is setup just like it would be on the bottom of a terrarium) and the towel over that, the cat doesn't even know it is there. She does her two circles(she is a Maine Coon and has always been very dog-like as many of them are) and settles down. Now, here is where that PID feature comes into play and is very important for set-and-forget peace of mind. The PID works on an algorithm that "learns" how much energy to push into the heating pad to get the probe to read the preset temp. What happens is the PID starts at full power and as it gets close to the preset temp it start reducing the power. Once preset temp is reached power is shut off the heating pad and a cooling cycle starts. The PID algorithm recognizes how much temp is lost over time and starts ramping up the power to produce heat "remembering" how fast it heated up the last time(in this description, the first time) it heated up the pad and probe. So this cycle goes on for a few minutes and the PID system learns how much energy(a percentage is shown on the controller screen) is needed to keep the probe temp at the preset. This way the system isn't just sitting there with the heating pad on HIGH(or MEDIUM or LOW) either giving too much heat or not enough. Now for the best part... When the cat lies down on the heating pad area, obviously her body heat is going to affect how much energy the PID needs to deliver to the pad to keep that probe at the preset. So the PID can now deliver less energy but keep the pad at the same temp. This way there is much MUCH less chance of anything getting too hot. Don't want the kitty getting roasted or the towel getting too warm or anything like that. I left the adhesive protector on for two reasons. One is to keep the thing from sticking to stuff but also as a way of detecting if there have been any heat range run-aways. If it gets to hot that adhesive is going to get slimy/gooey and checking it every day for the first week and then every few days since it has not overheated in the slightest. The cat loves it and has pretty much given up on her other warm spots since they are NOT as warm as this is now. Summer is upon us now so I am probably going to turn the thing off altogether but if you are in a cooler climate or want one for similar applications, by all means, give it a try. We got a second one for our other cat as she has her own favorite sleeping spot. Needless to say, she loves it too. These are DEFINITELY the best thing I have found to provide that extra bit of comfort and joy to the kitty that likes a cozy warm spot to sleep. It would work just as well for other critters too.The digital control display is very easy to work with and provides preset temps by single degree and a "live" display of how much power is being sent to the heating pad and the probe's current temp and preset temp.DEFINITELY RECOMMEND and would DEFINITELY BUY AGAIN as we already have. Probably going to be a go to gift for friends and family with pets that like to find cozy places to sleep/lounge.

So the pad itself works great, built in thermostat works as it should but the only problem I'm having, which seems to be the same with everyone else, is that the adhesive sucks. It keeps peeling off which is annoying to have to fix every day. I have to get heat resistant foil tape to keep it on
