I ordered these in the black, which is a shiny patent black. I love these shoes! I always hesitate to purchase shoes online because it's so hard to tell if you're going to like a shoe (or it's going to fit properly) unless you can try it on. However I liked the style of these, and I've had success with the Rockport brand before, so I decided to give them a try. I took the advice of another reviewer and ordered a 9.5, which is half a size larger than I would normally wear in this type of shoe. They fit perfectly. The square toe box is wide enough that my toes don't feel at all crammed together, so they are very comfortable to walk in. (My foot is a normal width, however, so I'm not sure how well it would work for a wide foot.) The heel height is the perfect balance for me - I used to love wearing heels, but they no longer love me. This lower, stacked heel, along with the square toe box, works very well and looks cute - if I'm going to wear a heel, I'd like it to not look matronly. The strap across the foot is adjustable, and keeps the shoe from slipping off my narrow heel when I walk. They do offer some padding in the inner sole, which also helps with the comfort of the shoe. And the bottom of the sole is a non-slip surface. All in all I am so pleased with these shoes! Definitely recommend and I will be confident in buying more Rockport shoes in the future.
