I've only skated rollerblades since in 1984. I've seen quality declined slightly over time but this most recent pair of skates was a bit shocking. The laces are those yank to tighten. They are very thin cords with a friction stopper at the top that you push down against the top of your foot to in effect lace the boot. I've never liked this design but the new version has a handle that facilitates pulling this strings tight. It seemed like a good idea unfortunately they tried to connect the cord ends by weaving them together and the skate that I received one of them the cord was broken where it would have come out of the woven bundle. The other skate was intact but looking at the woven bundle I had to wonder for how long.I then looked at the eyelets through which the cord was laced. And they're not actually eyelets they look like some kind of fabric. Which in an earlier pair of roller blades from maybe 10 years ago that design was great until it wasn't. Because the constant yanking of the cord acted as a scissoring effect that eventually cut through the loop that is supposed to hold the cord. I ended up having to make a hole in the boot just to give the lace somewhere to go. Eventually I had to remove the lace entirely and use a normal lace that I would tie like a normal shoe. Not the best but it was a functional solution and that was not something I was willing to do in a brand new skate that cost more than $250. A closer inspection of the lace loop showed that they might be glued to the liner or maybe they are sewn in and glued but there were glops of glue on the surface of the skate boot that showed a poor quality control in application of this glue substance. All of these elements combined made it impossible to keep this skate because even if I could have figured out a way to reattach the ends of the lace to use the handle to tighten them I would fear that they would tear through the loops or pull the loop out of the boot. All of this said, I still skate the brand but I guess I will have to be much more careful in selecting the next ride. And if I cannot find another skate I might actually have to break a 40-year tradition. And go look for a different brand.UPDATE: Rollerblade called me, the "speed laces" are a known design issue and something better is coming out in the next version. They also offered to repair my existing skates. I'm impressed with the customer service.

These skates are super comfy. No pressure point and no need to break in.Speed is amazing too! This is my first 110mm wheels experience and I am enjoying it :)

Skates came in new condition even though the packaging was in rough shape. Overalll, the skates are very comfortable (no blisters right out of the box) and would purchase again.
