I bought this to convert my desktop home lab to be able to fit into a rack in my AV closet. It functioned fine. The instructions were useless but you need to know how to build a PC anyways to use this. The tolerances on the 3.5/2.5 drive bays was meh and the tolerance on the disk drive 5.25” if I recall SUCKED. I had a one for extra USBs and a standard disc drive and they both had a super hard time going in. Plus the quality of the cages were abysmal. Everything related to the two cages was held in by flimsy metal brackets. As for the motherboard and main PC components they fit fine. I was using an ATX board with a GTX 1080 and that meant I couldn’t use 4 of the drive slots in their cage which sucks. It’s not too difficult to get into the case to remove stuff but it’s a very very tight fit. By the time I was done it was pretty heavy, the weight had to be over 30 lbs so be careful. It fits standard into a rack and was easy to remove to modify. It’s a decent case, but you’re getting what you pay for. I had to go in with a cutter and pliers to get everything to fit well.

I love this 9B case, but it has a few issues. The first is the case only has room for one front 120mm fan. This is fine if you have 5 drives since that air intake is blowing directly on the drives. But once you add two more for max capacity you can see the 2 drives will run much hotter, almost 10c difference fwiw. Since the front panel USB is in the center this cabling gets in the way of the right most drive and you can’t mount the HHD cage.HHD cage says it mounts 3.5” but it’s a bit of a lie. Yes it mounts, but you can see you can only attach the front 2 screws since the back screw holes are about not lining up with the cage. It’s almost as if the engineers forgot that the screw mounts for the bottom of the drive are if you bottom mount. But when you vertical mount you must use an adapter (like in the 15b version) or you need to adjust you screw holes to the proper side width. This is fine but I knocked a star off because of this. I intend to 3d print some spacers to hold the drives in place.I would have like to see the usb on the bottom center rather than the middle or to the far right or left like other cases they have made. And allow for another 120mm fan or 80mm fan. I may DIY something later to get some air flowing on the other two drives. I get that this is meant to have a security feature for the front. But come on, the key is a bit of a joke. I would prefer an optional knob for home lab.The case can likely support 3-4 more HHDs in the 5.25 bay. Plenty of room to run two stacked and one likely under the two stacked. You maybe able to modify the case to support 4 or even 5 stacked. But you need to be sure to run air over them. Even if it’s super low speed.Even with all this, I still recommend the case if you don’t have a lot of depth.I am keeping it at 4 stars but it really should be 3 stars for used quality. This had screws stripped on the case. Clearly used. But since it’s cosmetic and it will not be seen I’m fine with it.The weight of the case with nothing in it is very lightweight compared to my 15b version. I really like this case but it needs a few more tweaks. If the vendor wants to reach out to me I’m more than willing to give some criticism on some other aspects of the case. I honestly think this case can be a multi versatile case with many options. It’s a perfect depth for some media cabinets and a lot of home lab users would flock to this with some tweaks.

Keep in mind the depth of this chassis is meant for deeper racks. I ended up having to just remove the back panel of my 27U Sysracks rack to be able to slide this in all the way. I for some reason thought my server rack was deep enough for this to fit, but it works no problem since I slide it into a small alcove when I'm not tinkering with it. Assembly was easy enough and it was nice to receive lots of extra screws and all the SATA cables needed. I have not tried the hot swap feature yet, but it is a nice bonus to have with the 12 bay version. I did upgrade the 80mm fans to Noctua industrial 80mm fans, and will likely swap out the internal chassis fans as well since they perform okay, but could be better. I'm looking at ways to possibly mount 3 more 120mm fans inside the case for more airflow, but upgrading to the Noctua industrial 3000RPM fans may be easier than trying to make 360mm diy mod. Overall this is a decent item, but seems to be way overpriced for what it is.

Great case of Hypervisors or NAS deployments for prosumers. This case pairs well with the sata card Syba 8 Port SATA III (SI-PEX40137) . The only thing is that you will still need 4 more sata ports (probably from the Mobo) in order to get all the drives. Great case lots of space.I would have like to taken a star off or QA two screws were striped, but for the price and the prosumer setup I decided to leave it a 5.NOTES:1. I did have issues with a M.2 sata caddy not working with the drive bay. The Sabrent m.2 enclosure did not work when fully plugged in. I had to back it out about a 1/8 of an inch for the drives to light up. Probably a Rosewill case tolerances issue.2. You will need a total of 6 molex connectors to get the RSV-L4412U drives to light up. I thought when I purchased it that I only needed 3. YOU WILL NEED 6. Dont skimp out on molex connectors they are one of the first things to go if you purchase poor quality ones.

This is for the Rosewill 4U Server Chassis Rackmount RSV-L4412U.The company says call support and no one can answer any questions. The say email us. Why say call us? Nothing but rude unqualified people will treat you as a fool. No technical questions can be asked because it is a call center.I want to buy extra trays and to have explained why the front panel USBs are in a single cable and why? My Linux boards need breakouts to attache the USBs.As for the actual server case, it is made well as far as the metal case.Everything fits and works so far and the trays are said to be made of ABS plastic. As long as you put 2 screws (4 are better) the hard drives should be cooled and secured properly.Lightweights will find the sealed box heavy. Remove the case from the box and it's top metal cover. Next remove the internals to lighten the case up a bit.Pull all of the trays and set them aside.Mount the power supply last!Mount the motherboard first, then the power supply. After that any trays with drives are the very very very last thing after the case is mounted in a rack. After using the trays, sometimes I need to pop a drive or 2 from the case for reasons like boot from Windows or Linux. The Linux function is useful in cloning a failing or bad drive to another. No mistakes with that function, remove all but the source and target drives!Addition 2024-11-01:I wish someone had the foresight to allow unplugged drives to still sit in the bay and not electrically plugged in.In other words, the tray would be unplugged, have its latch shut, and put back in the bay slot, but not electrically connected, then close the front door.A few more millimeters spacing would have made that possible. Thoughtless design negates this simple function. I have to remove the populated drive trays and put them where, on the floor or a desk to be kicked or knocked over? It just seems like poor engineering. These things make me wonder what other "gotchas" exist? The cooling fans will of course be replaced in time with real ones like Noctuas. That didn't matter as a pre-purchase issue.I have another identical case coming for a friend. I hope he is 5 star happier with it. Me not so much.
