Ironically I opened the cover up and there was a live bug crawling around inside ( and no, there was no way it flew on when I was opening the cover since it wasn’t a flying bug). Great material and fits nicely. Not too tight to get over the mattress. Hoping it holds up.

We had a serious bed bug scare at our house and it was really hard to find a "bed bug" enclosure specifically for a crib mattress. The popular manufacturer that makes adult pillow and mattress casings did not yet produce one for a crib mattress and I wasn't seeing much else when searching around. I think the other company pointed me to this brand and it worked perfectly. It easily slipped over the bare crib mattress and has provided me piece of mind as the crib is where we found a confirmed bed bug casing (two other family households had bed bugs and we can only surmise we "lucked" out after my M-I-L visited with a lonely bug who could not mate...it has been a year and no other bugs/bug casings sighted). Needless to say, we haven't been to visit the other family members much in the past year. Call me protective but it can be SUPER expensive to eradicate bed bugs!

These encasements were the perfect size for my crib and toddler beds. The cloth message for the surface is also a nice touch and the clean white color makes it easier to spot if there are any critters crawling on it. I bought 2 of these, but had had a problem with the zipper on one of them. The zipper got caught 1/3 of the way after I placed the mattress inside and attempted to seal it. I would move the zipper back to the open position and try to reclose it and it would keep getting caught at the same place. It didn't appear to be any material caught in the zipper, so I thought maybe I wasn't pulling it right or hard enough, but the zipper "handle" feels like it could break off easy, so I didn't really want to challenge it. Decided to put some more force into it anyway, and managed to get it through the trouble spot and finished zippering it closed, but there was a small gap where the catch was that I had to place tape over to attempt to seal it. I had no issue with the other encasement, as it zipped very smoothly. I haven't attempted to contact the company yet, but even with this issue, I would recommend these encasements!

I think saferest must make their encasements a bit large because the crib AND queen mattress encasements I bought are a little big. However, I prefer that they're a little big than to not fit at all.According to the directions, you wash them before you use them and tumble dry on low. I didn't bother upzipping them because I was afriad of breaking the zippers, so I just put them in the washer & dryer like that. I guess that's why it took them a while to dry on the inside since it's a completely different material from the outside, which dried faster.Anyway, it was easy to put on the mattresses. I was very careful with unzipping them and very gentle with zipping them back up. With the money I spent on these things, I wanted to make sure I didn't break anything. I'm paranoid!Unfortunately, I bought these because we have bed bugs :( I've bought some stuff to kill them and it hurt me to spend money on encasements, too but I'd rather spend the money on these than to have to buy new mattresses in the future. Our mattresses are like new! The zippers felt a little hard to move, but I'm assuming it's because they're new. This is also why I was gentle with zipping/unzipping because I was afraid if I was too rough I'd probably break them since I'm not a very gentle person.The terry cloth is kind of hot, but it doesn't bother me since I put a fitted sheet over it. The fitted sheets I use are cool. Overall, I'm happy with my purchase. The encasements fit (a little big, but no big deal), it's easy to put on, zip/unzip, and I'm very happy that the zippers securely close all the way. I don't think bed bugs could get in or out.Also, it's definitely waterproof! I didn't think I would ever have to test that out, but who am I kidding? I have a toddler. I can't believe I never thought he'd throw his leaky sippy cup on our mattress. I just wish he would have thrown it on his own damn mattress.I'd recommend saferest encasements for sure.

This item was exactly what I was looking for. I needed something to cover my baby's mattress completely, as I'm using a hand-me-down from my niece that was still in good condition. It was important to me protect my child from any possible bed bugs or any other creepy crawlies and this encased cover does just that. I mean, I use something similar for my own mattress, why wouldn't I do the same for my own child? I"m a little surprised I couldn't find more of this item around at my local stores, or even many variations of this on Amazon itself, so I'm grateful I did find this one.The cover is a little big, it doesn't fit the mattress snuggly; but it still works and does the job. I wouldn't recommend just using this for the mattress alone though (and I don't think it's meant to be used that way). I put a waterproof cover on top of it and then the crib sheet on top of that so it all tucks in together and is fitted. No loose sheets around for the baby to harm himself in. The zipper seems a bit delicate because it is so small, so just zip and unzip carefully. Where the zipper ends/stops there is a velcro tab to cover it so there can be no "accidentally" pulling it down.I got this items quickly and on time. I couldn't begin to set up the baby's crib without it, so I appreciate how fast it arrived. And in excellent condition!
