First of all the seller: The shipping was amazingly fast. It came within a few days and NOT the few weeks it stated. Super impressed by that.Secondly the machine: It takes a bit to figure out how to correct something, and the screen is a bit small. So far, I have only used it to cut stamped images out, which is the main, but not the only, reason I purchased this machine. Note to anyone who chooses to do this... you MUST ensure that the image is a closed image without any gaps. If they are not, it will not cut properly. You have to check each item individually on the small screen to see how they will cut before you cut so you don’t end up with a disaster - cutting the image poorly. If they are not fully closed you will have to draw in pencil (or pen) on the image to close them and then rescan them. The machine cuts way better and quicker than fussy-cutting. When you are making intricate cuts, you will not regret purchasing this machine. The machine can also scan designer papers, material, etc. and cut out specific items out of it. This is a great feature. One problem with the scanner is that it is amazingly detailed. It’s resolution picks up everything! That is both good and bad. Good, because if you have a nice chunk of designer paper or other material you are working with, it will see to cut out the images. You can scroll to just one little bug to cut out if you choose. It’s not so nice when you have a small piece of paper or vinyl. It sees every nick and line, piece of paper, fuzz, irregular or jagged edge and ink that is either on your mat or material. You have to scroll into your image on the screen to avoid them. So, you MUST keep your mat clean to help avoid some of this issue. It does not affect the cutting most of the time, but it is a bit alarming when you first see it. There are lots of YouTube videos which will help for some problems and learning. The machine has an auto detect blade which, in theory, should detect your material but it did not do so properly and cut fairly deep into the brand new mat. That was concerning, particularly in light of the high cost of replacing the mat. The mat itself is not super sticky and after one use, I found myself re-sticking it already. You must pay attention to which machine you have because brother has made it so that mats are not interchangeable. If you get the wrong mat, it won’t work. This is absolutely ridiculous. None of the other machines I own do this, so it is certainly a strike against them. The cuts were clean and crisp and the machine offers several widths of offset which is really nice. The sewing feature will be great in that you can put almost anything in the machine (via the USB stick, wirelessly or by the computer) and add a seam allowance onto it. This is one sweet feature. Brother also has sewing patterns (quilting) that you can download (if you own them) directly to the machine. There are also some quilting patterns included in the machine. This is particularly helpful if cutting the small pieces is difficult for you. There are many add-on kits you can get, which may prove valuable if you wish the added features. They do not come cheaply. The vinyl kit could be avoided simply by changing the blade from a 60 degree blade to a 45 degree blade. The machine is quite large, so if you have a storage issue, this could be a problem. It is surprisingly light, so carrying it and moving it should not be an issue. It runs relatively quietly and quickly which is very nice.Compared to other cutter programs, the “canvas” program I found to be lacking. If it is someone’s first cutter, this would not be as glaring. I simply use Sure Cuts A Lot and export it to the designated USB drive. I choose this over keeping it on the machine storage or the computer. The machine has it’s own vector system (fcm)which can usually be easily converted from standard SVGs to use. This is quite important if you wish to import your own, purchased or free images. There are no limitations on them. The library of images is lacking and you have to pay for each added kit. So, it is excellent there is a bounty of places to get and/or make your own! There are a lot of features I have not even begun to explore. I do look forward to learning more. YouTube, here I come. I am clearly not a pro with this machine...yet.Remember, I have not been using this machine for long and these are my early observations. I hope this information helps you to have more knowledge when choosing which machine you would like to purchase.Would I buy this machine again? Probably. I would have loved to have the opportunity to buy the Disney version, my preferred choice, but it is not available to those who live in Canada. This one is doing a very good job. I just wanted the Disney images included, plus the more advanced model.Would I buy from the same seller again ? Absolutely.

This product was a complete waste of time, energy and resources. It cannot cut matt board or cardboard of any kind by my experiments. I cut 2mm board and under. The sample image you see was a typical result.Brother does advertise that it can, but it CANNOT! I interacted with their customer service, which by and large is awful! You cannot call them. It all has to be done through their dealer (who were very good at trying to help me). Brother hides behind their website and their dealers, you cannot talk to a customer service rep directly. This alone should move you to consider another product and company. I personally despise companies that refuse to talk to their customers directly. If you want to cut matt board for photos, this is not the machine for you. I tried 2mm, 1mm and tried to do a kiss cut on a sample peel and stick paper. This machine FAILED MISERABLY on all counts. It did cut photographic paper nicely. Any paper that has two-sided printing on it will be ruined if you put the printed side down on the sticky matt. I could find no printed sheet that wasn't ruined after cutting and attempted removal.I tried to cut regular paper, which it did fine but cut into the cutting matt you feed the paper through. It has a sticky surface on it and it will damage your material more times than not when you remove it.The blade also stuck to the material it was cutting and pulled the board off the sticky cutting board ruining the cut and the entire matt board. I was told by Brother they had some issue with the small blade and for me to purchase the heavy cut. It did..... SOLVED NOTHING! The deep cut blade was just as bad. The deep cut blade holder has a dial on it. Numbered from 1-10. There are no instructions on what the settings do. I asked Brother, got no response other than to go to a YouTube video that did not show this attachment. So, your guess on how to properly use it is as good as mine. I set it on AUTO to cut a thin chip board, it failed to cut right through.Another issue was with the blade scraping across the surface of the board ruining it. The thickness of the board I used is well under their maximum, but the blade sticks to the material, it pulls the material up off the cutting board and ruins the surface. The blade that comes with the machine, with the faulty software also ruined two of the die cutting matts needed for these operations by deeply cutting into the matts.Their customer service relies on YouTube videos on how to use the machine. All links to these videos are to older model machines, which is somewhat helpful but just increased my frustration as the examples were not what I was doing and the machine used was not my model. My initial email to them was with a sample product I wanted to cut. They told me that the machine would handle the cuts! IT DID NOT. In fact, it failed MISERABLY! If they knew this, why did they tell me to buy the cutter?I am returning the product. AND, I am supposed to pay the shipping back. I take issue with this as I did due diligence before I purchased this, was mislead, wasted time and money on material .... and to add insult to injury, will have to spend more money to return it! Laughable.AVOID this product if you are using it to cut thicker cardboard including chipboard. It doesn't work. I am disappointed with all this because their software interface was easy to set up and use.February 1, 2020 UPDATEI have returned the cutter. So, AFTER, asking all the questions, being misled into thinking it would work.....I HAD TO PAY TO RETURN IT.This entire experience has put me out of pocket approximately $150 (shipping $100) to return and test materials)Was AMAZON HELPFUL? Not yet!I will update if and when I can ever talk with them.My thinking, as a long time business owner, IF YOUR MISTAKE COSTS MISLED THE CUSTOMER, THEN THE TAB IS ON YOU!Not with AMAZON or with The Vendor, apparantly. Its buy at your own risk even if you do due diligence before you buy! Next time, go to WALMART. At least there, you get a full refund.
