It takes an eternity to dry the kids shoes. Broke after 3 uses. I don't recommend at all.

So I ordered this to use inside of my son's goalie glove and blocker, because they never seem to dry, and smell....umm, well, gross. Except, that my goalie informed me that using something to dry his gloves completely would actually make they too stiff. Instead, I used these in his skates. I left them inside overnight, because he got back from his practice not long before I went to bed, and they were dry when I checked on them about 12 hrs later. Since this is typically how late he gets back, I'm not really sure how long it actually takes to dry his skates, because I don't check on them throughout the night. They don't completely deodorize the skates, but they are much less smelly than when I don't use the little dryers. These will be great to have in his hockey bag, especially when we have to share a hotel room with his equipment. The dryers are also light, and small enough to fit in any of his compartments inside of his goalie bag. I think it would be worth buying a second (or even a third) set to put inside of his helmet and/or his chest protector and goalie pants. While they don't make his gear smell "spring fresh", the drying definitely improves the smell from "lethal stench" to just "not the best smell". If I had used the dryers starting with a new pair of skates, the smell might never have gotten so bad. I haven't used them in running shoes yet, because it's summer, and we only really wear sandals right now (and, yes, my goalie plays hockey 12 months a year so it's always hockey season in our house). I bet these dryers would be much more deodorizing in a regular pair of shoes though. I like that these are plug-in so that I don't have to worry about the batteries running out while they are drying.
