I have an older DAC. It's Toslink-IN is limited to 96 kHz, whereas it can accept 192 kHz via Coaxial-IN. I purchased this SIIG Toslink/Coaxial Bi-Directional Converter for a streamer (Wiim Mini) whose only digital out is Toslink. The streamer outputs 192 kHz and I've been looking for a solution to get the highest resolution from it to my DAC. The SIIG is advertised as supporting audio sample rates up to 192 kHz.I connected the Toslink-OUT from the streamer to the Toslink-IN on the SIIG. I set the input switch on the SIIG to Toslink. Then I connected the Coaxial-OUT from the SIIG to the Coaxial-IN on my DAC. First, I streamed a 192 kHz audio track to the SIIG, but no audio was output. Then I streamed a 96 kHz audio track to the SIIG and it successfully passed the signal to my DAC. So please be aware that the SIIG would only pass 96 kHz audio via Toslink -> Coaxial Conversion, not 192 kHz as one would infer from the advertising.Otherwise, the SIIG has a metal casing and seems decently made. I didn't notice any degradation in the sound quality of the 96 kHz track I sent through the SIIG when compared to a direct connection between my streamer and DAC. It just didn't work for my use case.
