This comes with 2 bottles and one canister. I don't understand why it needed to be an electric item. I have another such machine that is manual. I will give it one less star for that because in the kitchen you can imagine every outlet is sacred. Still this will replace buying carbonated water. You can actually buy flavors and put them in. What I do is I first carbonated water and then I poured into a glass and I can add anything. I got pomegranate juice, I can add a dash of orange juice or even just fresh lemon juice. You can get fancy and buy flavored additives. I had one at home so I just bought this to put in my office. My advice is not to carbonated water and then put it in the refrigerator. You can keep the bottle of water in the refrigerator and when you are ready to drink, then carbonate. I find that if I carbonate a bottle it loses some of the fizz when I put it in the refrigerator

This fizzy water maker is an interesting product- albeit somewhat expensive up front. I am not a fan of plain water, but will drink sparkling often instead of soda, as I love how the fizz makes the water taste and it is zero calories. It also seems to help with digestion. I had just been buying sparkling water at the store, as it isn't that expensive, but I was concerned with the ridiculous amount of plastic waste as everything comes in a plastic bottle today, so I thought I would give this a try.The Soda Stream E-Duo is a nice product. It was easy to set up and install the carbon dioxide cylinder, and once you plug it in you are good to go. It comes with 2 bottles- one glass and one plastic. I love that there is a glass bottle included- as I think the glass helps to make the fizz last longer once it is in the refrigerator. The gas cylinder is refillable- you can buy a new one and just ship the old one back for reuse. As of this review it is around $32 for a new cylinder. Obviously, it is going to depend on how much fizz you add to each bottle and how many bottles you make as to how long the cylinder is going to last. I usually use the level 2 fizz and it is just about right. My plastic bottle is dishwasher safe- which is a plus- but honestly you still have to do some hand washing as no way the dishwasher is getting all the way up into that bottle with the small opening at the top. I love that you can add fruit or lemon/lime juice for flavor to make your drink unique. While it is a good product, I do have some cons to report:1. The carbonating head part does move up and down on its own as it states in the instruction manual. You have to move it yourself. Not a big deal- but I want to be complete in the review as when it didn't move I thought mine might be broken- but no, I just move it up or down gently and it works just fine.2. The bottles are really big- unless you want to drink that much sparking water in a day it seems like a waste. While the glass bottle will hold some carbonation in the fridge- it isn't the same as when it is freshly made. It would be nice to have a 20 oz size bottle. Again, very minor.3. This is an expensive investment from the start. At $200 for the water maker and your first cylinder and then $32 for each additional cylinder it will take some use to see a return on investment from not having to buy plastic bottles.4. All the flavors I have found thus far online use artificial sweeteners which isn't great.Overall, this is a really nice product that will be a money saver long term for someone who like sparkling drinks- especially if you have a family. It can help to get you off of sugary soda (as even the soda flavor packs are artificially sweetened) and gives you a unique way to make different sparkling beverages. It is a great way to decrease plastic consumption. The water it makes isn't Pellegrino- but it made the local tap water a bit more tasty.

We had an issue with the hydraulic head on our first E-Duo. It just wouldn’t rise up. I had to really force it up by hand every single time. We contacted customer service and the rep was great. She sent out a replacement E-Duo straightaway. Upon receipt, the 2nd unit also had a hydraulic issue with the head. This time, it wouldn’t open and springs right back down in a snap! I called customer service again and she sent out a 3rd replacement! Finally, this 3rd unit works great as intended. We love being able to make our sparkling water at any time and this E-Duo is great at it. Shame the hydraulic head is so unreliable on these E-Duos. Luckily, customer service was fantastic though.I hope this 3rd one will be trouble-free. Only time will tell.

One in every 25 attempt the button will light up after placing the bottle in the canister. Stick with lo-tech

Pros:Feels really high-qualityGlass carafe option!Easier to use than manual optionsQuick connect CO2 replacementsCons:Does need to be plugged inCan’t accept ½ liter bottlesThis E-Duo system is a great upgrade compared to the older versions. I have owned multiple types in the past, with my most commonly used being a Fizzi. This feels like a new model that was really worth getting. The ease of use and the option of using a glass carafe make a huge difference.I’ve been looking for a water carbonation system that offers glass bottles for a while. There are a few on the market, but I wasn’t sold until I saw this one from a brand I have experience with. The standard plastic bottles are BPA free, but I’ve found that if they sit in the fridge for a couple of days, there is a faint plastic taste that I pick up on. Others in my household don’t notice it, so it might be me being picky, but I was thrilled to use a glass option instead. My only complaint about this system isn’t really a complaint at all, it’s just something to be aware of. This unit needs to be plugged in. After always using manual models in the past, I got used to the portability of the unit. This isn’t a huge deal, but it does mean that once I found a place for it in my kitchen, it’s more of a pain to move.Overall, I would highly recommend this unit to anyone looking at getting into carbonated water. It’s a high-quality model that feels like it will last, it’s easy to get replacement bottles and CO2 canisters, and it lets you use glass!
