Works very well! I forgot that my trunk didn’t like to open and after I installed this, it almost took my head off it opened so well. My head it intact, don’t worry and this was a great purchase.

The Euplokeer gas strut for the 2011-2017 Jetta is a great replacement for the OEM strut. I didn't even realize the car had this strut until the trunk on my 2017 Jetta (7 years old) started to close on it's own and nailed me in the forehead as I was reaching in.The package has the two struts nicely packaged. The strut looks like a quality piece of hardware, and comes in a compressed state, upon cutting the zip ties and plastic band, it expands to it's full length.I believe there is a YouTube video on how to do this, but I've also taken pictures of the entire process. 1) jam something soft and large into the trunk hinge to keep it open. 2) use a small screwdriver to pry up the metal retaining clip on the end in the trunk. 3) put down the passenger rear seat and then pull the trim away to reveal a hole where you can access the other end of the strut. 4) again use a small screw driver to pry up the retaining clip on this side, and the strut will drop. 5) push the new strut on to the retaining ball from inside the car first, and then push it on the retaining ball in the trunk - you may need to manually compress the strut a bit to get it pushed on in the trunk. The replacement works great, and now the trunk stays open on it's own even when parked on a slight incline like a driveway. As others have noted the car only has one gas strut, so used one, and saved the other for 7 years from now. At a little more than $15 for a pair, this is a no brainer to do a DIY repair and I recommend it!

Got this for a 2011 Volkswagen Jetta four-door sedan. The trunk lid was not staying up very well. The old one popped off easily with a large straight edge screwdriver. The new one popped on with a little application of force. The trunk now stays up quite nicely. The one thing I don't like about it is that it comes in a two pack, but this particular application is a single strut design.
