cheaply made lacked a nue for tightening

We open about 3 wine bottles a week. About 12 years ago, I found one with this same EXACT design at a store that only sells closeout merchandise. They were $13 each, so I bought 3 of them, figuring I could swap parts as they broke. Because of the really poor design and construction, I was sure it would break before long. My plan worked. I kept it going for 12 years before running out of replacement parts. I had also glued the base to my counter because the suction holder never really worked.Skip ahead to now. I found this unit on Amazon for $60 each. I figured at that price, it must be a higher quality of the one I had been using, so I bought two of them. Boy was I wrong! It seems that the Chinese have found a way to save a few cents in manufacturing costs and have made it less sturdy, and the mechanism less smooth to operate.If you are looking for a quality piece of equipment that will last many years, look elsewhere.

My husband loves this opener!

The suction cup portion of the opener is poorly made and does not stay attached when used. The frame feels cheap and the overall structure does not meet my quality expectations.
