First off, only one of the internal nvme disks is connected at high speed pci, the other one is USB. Secondly, the pci one died in less than a year, and the USB one died shortly thereafter. I contacted the company and because I wrote to them a few days after the 1 year mark, they refused to do a warranty repair, and wanted me to pay to ship it back to them, and pay for a repair. AVOID.

I purchased the "Super Thunderbolt 3 Dock for Mac Studio & Mac Mini, Dock Station with NVMe/SATA Slot" in January 2023. Paid $436. After only 16 months of use I noticed that the SSD drive that was installed was not showing up in Finder. I also noticed the SD card slot, CF Express slot and USB ports on the front panel don't work either. After investigating the problem by removing the SSD and installing in a different Dock I was able to determine that the SSD was working fine. I reinstalled the SSD and sadly I'm still not able to get the SSD to be detected and the front panel ports still do not work. I do not recommend buying this unit. WASTE OF MONEY.

The manual says not to put anything on top of the unit, yet all the pictures here show the unit UNDER the MAC Mini!?! That was the first indication that I may have made a mistake in buying this device. But did I? Read on...- - -This is my first impression of the TREBLEET TB3 Dock with a Mac Mini M2 Pro. I've bought similar form factor expansion units in the past and they've all had some problems... slower than expected, repeated dive ejects, no recognition of the drive(s) after a power failure or fixed shut down, etc. This is the first one that I have put through the tests (power interruptions, different drives, speed tests, etc.) that has performed without a problem.I was originally thinking of using the two internal drive bays only for Time Machine and Photo Backups since I read the reviews about slower speeds. But after adding a 4TB Crucial P3 Gen3, I'm getting write speeds of over 2500 MS/s and Reads over 2200 MB/s (FYI - the Gen3 is rated at up to 3200 MB/s).With such fast speeds I've stared using it as a MEDIA drive for both active Video and Photo work.I only have one older 2.5" Samsung EVO SSD to test the other bay and it much slower, as expected (~ 200 MB/s). I'm waiting on a faster SSD, so I will see what the performance will be with that one. But for Time Machine backups, there is no need for a fast drive.Another feature I like about this dock is the CFExpress Type-B card slot. I wish it also accepted XQD cards, but I know that standard is giving way to the faster CFExpress cards. The read rate for the cards reaches speeds that I expect (>700 MB/s). The write speed is a little slower than expected (330 MS/s), but I won't be writing to cards from the computer. What interesting is that I get faster write speeds using an external reader attached to the Dock's free TB in the back (500 MB/s).Nonetheless, this dock performs well and it makes my photo workflow much easier and faster to handle thousands of pictures after a shoot or to go through large amounts of video while culling.Well worth the price!

The unit arrived with only a US plug, first job was replacing that. Then the unit only works with a small subset of drives, many of which are now obsolete. Even the most common Samsung drives don’t work. So I had to buy replacement drives. Then I needed to update the firmware but you can’t do that on a Mac…. You need a Windows box with thunderbolt, quite uncommon.I had a friend lend me an Intel NUC (the same manufacturer as the thunder bolt chipset) and it wouldn’t update the Trebleet. Trebleet support just told me that it doesn’t work on every computer…The support from Trebleet is basically ‘it is what it is’, with no stated intention to improve anything. You can’t even tell easily what firmware you are running, you do this in some obtuse way that similarly requires a windows machine with thunderbolt.I’m ditching this and my advice is to buy anything else, you can’t find a worse experience.

First, let me say that I have had my eye on this device for most of a month or so. I finally ordered it and what I got from Amazon had been opened, with things missing. I think someone ordered it and returned it (maybe other review here?) but in any case for $300+tax I'm not keeping something that someone else has dealt with, and I'm not wasting time on a device that may not work (because someone else found it defective and returned it). I have had Amazon send me returned items before.Anyway, Amazon has always been good on their word so they quickly sent out another one and I'm going to send back the 1st one on Monday (this is written on April 7, 2022).I second one was fine upon inspection, so I have now testing it on a Lenovo Laptop that has 2 Thunderbolt 3 ports. I also have a MBP with M1Pro (3 Thunderbolt ports) and a Mac Mini M1 with some TB ports as well. I will test all of these machines with the TreBleet. As for color, if you are expecting it to match up with a Mac Silver device, lose that thought. It looks a bit cheap (in comparison). Most of it seems metal but the top seems to be something or covered over with something. I'm not trilled about its looks.I decided to test all of the ports without worrying about performance (initially) as some of the reviewers have commented about nonworking ports. I have loaded up every port on mine and all of them work. I have not tested the NVMe slot yet as I don't have one that I'm sure works inside the dock, so keep that in mine. I did test the SATA SSD slot and it works fine with an old 1 TB Crucial SSD I have. This thing as a lot of ports. The main reason I bought this is because of the Type B CFe reader and the NVMe and SATA SSD that fit inside. The reader works fine (not tested performance though) and all of the other ports work! Again, I can't say how fast they are yet.A couple more thoughts on the build....The thunderbolt cable that came with the device feels a little lose in plugged into the back port on the device. Its fits okay on my Lenovo C940 laptop, though. Also, the TB cable is very short. It would not make sense for the to be a meter long, but it is very short and when used with a laptop, you will have to keep it close. On the Mac Mini, it would sit on top (the manual says not to put anything on top of this dock!), so the short cable is fine in that application.Getting into the cage for the SSD and NVMe card requires removing a plate held in by 4 screws (not clicking in and/or out. Not a fan of that. I'd rather it just be toolless. The NVMe slot has a screw to hold it in, again not toolless (it comes with a tiny screwdriver that fits). The SATA SSD connection is fine but there is nothing to old it in (strange). There appears to be some heatsink material included so you can pull heat off the NVMe.The unit gets slightly warm after a while. I have not tested against installing lots of files yet, so more on heat later. My initial concern was that I'd get something with a bunch of nonworking ports. While I can't say if the NVMe slot works with a gumstick SSD, it seems that all of the other ports work. Not sure how well it will hold up over time, though.Updates to come as I get more time and more to say about this unit. For me, it has the potential to declutter my environment on the daily by not having to always plug in, even though if I need to plug in, its got me covered in spades.
