So, I bought this for an old Sony a6100 mirrorless camera. The sharpness is not that sharp; it's just okay.

If you're still debating on which zoom lens to get, know that this is a great 17 to 70 mm focal length lens that's amazing for landscapes, portraits, wedding, travel, and so much more. And if you're into videography, check out DreamDuo Films review on Youtube. This lens is really a great balance between photography, videography, and price to performance!I recently did candid photo's of a traditional Hmong wedding with a 30mm prime lens, which was great, but missed so many great oppertunities due to the lack in focal length. Now this lens isn't as sharp as a Prime Lens, but it doesn't mean its a bad lens. If you're not pixel peeping, this 17-70 will exceed your expections in the sharpest of ways! Photo's shot in auto mode can be lacking but once you get to tuning the settings in manual mode, and used to lens capabilities, the pictures will looks so much sharper, and cleaner! I highly recommend learning the photography triangle of Shutter Speed, Aperture, and ISO, to better fine tune the images quality. There was also the option of going with a Sigma 18-50 that was a lot smaller, lighter, and cheaper, but because of the Tamrons VC image stabilization, I opted for Tamrons to pair with my Sony A6400.BTW, the included kit was a nice bonus add on bundle. Kit comes in a hard case that holds a hand air blaster for dust and lint that is a must for every photographer, SD Card, microfiber cloth and pouches, wrist strap, and a hand held mount that also doubles as a table stand! A back pack bag with a inflatable insert is also included in the bundle, which I don't think I will be using.Attached are view angles of how this Tamron lens looks like on the Sony A6400 body, and some photo's during winter to help display its picture quality. All in all I think anyone can appreciate this lens and will stay on their camera for a long time. Stay capturing one moment at a time and enjoy!

The amazing optics at 2.8 through this range (which is 50% longer than a FF 24-70) is one must have lens for indoor and night shoots. Or you can spend double on the Sony G equivalent if you want. I have the Sony power zoom 18-105mm f4 which I use much more for video. But portraits and lower light, this is the goto.

If you have an aps-c body this might be your go to lens for everything. The 17mm is wide enough to vlog and the 70mm is great stopped down. The optimal range is between 24 and 50mm in my opinion. Very sharp lens and it has some weight to it but if you have an aps-c body with a cage or battery grip it will give you a better grip on your camera. Great buy. Only con I have with this lens is when I shoot in wide focus area mode it use contrast focus in which I don’t like. On my Sigma 30mm prime it focuses great. If Tamron can fix that I think it would be great.Update I had the lens for about a week and although it was good to vlog and do some video with I found it not as sharp in terms of photography even stop down. I thought it would be especially against my sigma 30mm which came out almost eight years ago. So I would say good for video not so much for photography.
