I ordered this set (grey box) and the near identical HFS set (red box) that is very popular on Amazon. Same box, same stickers, same font, even the same cardboard outter box and label they are shipped in. All of these (grey box) were just slightly off as you can see in the pictures. The HFS on the other hand were perfect every time. Clearly we can trust the highly accurate Mitutoyo calipers. Perhaps it was just my set but I’d suggest another set (HFS I’m happy with) if you’re looking for accuracy at a similar price point.

I purchased this pin gage set to learn and explore how to measure known small dimensions with a barrel micrometer. This set, which is reasonably price, ticks those boxes. I also wish to use the set to measure the small passageways found in Solex carburetors.The pins are made of ferrous metal so I must keep them away from humidity or they will rust. If you purchase this kit be very careful opening the box. If you spill the contents you will have a lot of difficulty returning them to their correct spots. I might colour code them just in case I make a mistake and mix them up. I plan to always return one to its spot before removing a second one.
