I cannot find words enough to praise the amazing talent of Susannah kearsley. The depth of detail and the superb touch that draws you into the story and akes yourself like you are walking beside the characters is a talent unsurpassed by many other authors. I have loved this Jacobite series and many other of her novels and would encourage anyone to read them. You will not be disappointed. Thank you for many hours of happy reading

Love her books and this one continued to please with a few unforeseen twists adding to the intrigue. The story of Lily, a young woman who grew up without parents in the late 1600s as she endeavors to legitimize a marriage between her and a childhood friend, who has left a small sum of money.Her claim is investigated and draws you into the story of Lily's life, as the investigation continues, narrated by the investigator.

I have loved every single Susanna Kearsley's books. And this one is as extraordinary as her other ones. It is interesting for its historical part and the intrigue keeps you in the dark until the very end. You have no idea how it will finish, I can assure you. And, when you do get to the end, you'll want to read it all over again to find the little details you've missed. Of course, there is always that link between characters from one book to the other and this goes for her latest book too. I can't wait for SK to write a new novel. She is certainly one of my favourite novelist. Bravo, oonce again and thank you.

From the first page I realized this was a very different book from the other books by Susanna Kearsley. I enjoy this author’s books and I loved this one. Interesting history & story beautifully written with wonderful characters & an unexpected twist at the end.I suggest you not be deterred by the negative reviews.

Edinburgh - late 1600s and 1707Scotland is once again in turmoil with the Union with England now signed and in effect. The Scottish Parliament is dissolved, the different Protestant religions are at odds, and rumors are flying that the Stewarts in France are planning another attempt to retake the crown from the present British king. Invited by his former commanding officer, Lieutenant Turnbull, to visit him in Edinburgh, Sergeant Adam Williamson, arrives to find Turnbull away. Although Turnbull's wife has never met him, she graciously invites him to stay until her husband returns. One day, they are visited by Lord Grange, a Lord of the Justiciary, who had hoped to enlist Turnbull in a legal matter. The political climate is volatile, and it's difficult to know whom to trust.THE VANISHED DAYS is a prequel to THE WINTER SEA, and re-introduces readers to the Graeme and Moray families. Adam tells his part of the story in his own words, and we learn of Lily's past, how she came to Edinburgh, and the people in her background who play a role in her future. It's a mystery, a well researched and presented historical tale, and a love story brought to life by the incredible writing of Susanna Kearsley. Hang on to your hats as you cruise to the stunning conclusion. It's not necessary to have read THE WINTER SEA first, but I do recommend it.
