I used this last weekend to tie my canoe to my car roof, along with the tow bars on the front and back of the car. They worked great for me.I thought that they were sold as single straps so I bought two. It turns out that there are two in the package.

Easily attached these to the hood bolts on my Toyota Highlander for securing the nose of a 14' SUP strapped to a Thule SUP carrier rack. Setup worked perfectly during an east coast trip from Maine to Florida, and now the straps are flipped back and invisible under the hood. No chafing occurred and the paint finish on the edge of the hood is pristine. Well worth the cost.

I ordered these loop straps to transport my canoe on my Forester. I use ropes to tie down my canoe and the front eye bolts were positioned such that I thought the sharp edge of the bumper would fray the rope. The loop straps were an excellent alternative; they were easy to install and they are easier to access. I have had them over a year and am happy with their functionality; at this time, I can not make any comment about durability in terms of longevity, but structurally, they have held up well.

Use for front tie downs for two kayaks on Toyota RAV4. No other real good place to tie front of kayaks to. The towing eye-bolt might have sufficed but is a pain to keep attaching and unbolting, plus I only have one (a second is $$$ strangely enough).Be sure to bolt it to a metal part of the frame under the hood, my vehicle had two bolts conveniently located at the end of some weather stripping. The nylon is strong enough to hold, thin enough to fit through gap in hood, but smooth/soft enough no to damage paint (so far) on hood's edge. The gromet is about the right side to handle any size bolt one would think to attach this with.
