At this price point, these rods definitely meet or exceed my expectations. Weight and build quality are in line with what I wanted, and they don't break the bank. They come in various sizes to meet your needs, so I think any in this family would do the same.

WOW, these rods are LIGHT. You can barely feel that you're even holding them. The quality is definitely some of the best I've felt when it comes to Rails. My ONLY complaint with these are that they're not threaded so you can't connect any others together. These will be great for adding a D-Tap battery to my rig!

In my video rigs I use various lengths of 15mm rods. Mostly these are for a motor I use for power zoom. In the past I've used aluminum rods. I got these to see if I could lighten up my rigs just a bit. The aluminum rods I use are 2.13 grams per centimeter in length. These carbon rods are 1.19 grams per centimeter. This means that for any given length the carbon ones weigh 56% the weight of the aluminum ones. Even though the rods are only a small part of the overall weight of my rig, every little bit of weight savings is appreciated. This comes at a pretty steep increase in cost, so every user needs to decide for themselves if that bit of weight savings is worth it. I cut my 15mm shafts down to the specific lengths I need for a specific lens/camera cage combination. With aluminum I use a bandsaw to cut to rough length, then clean up the cut end with a lathe. For carbon rods, conventional tools won't work. For those I use an abrasive wheeled cutter which was originally for cutting arrow shafts to length. Then clean up the ends with sandpaper.

These are great carbon fiber rods. The big concern with carbon over aluminum is that they'll be too brittle, I can say with a fairly high degree of certainty that these are not brittle. I have a cheese plate (with Vmount battery), arca QR plate and lens support that I set up on this and it had little to no flex. The big test for me was when i installed my grips on the end, this is a good test because they won't lock in if they flex too much. They lock in well and I don't notice any drifting, something that cannot be said for the cheaper carbon fiber rods i purchased elsewhere. I'm able to screw on the grips as tight as i can get it without injuring my hands and I heard no cracking or flexing. I think these rods should be able to handle around 100 lbs before i'd want to switch to steel, I also like that they rounded the ends so they aren't sharp. In the future, i'd like to see an option to have the insides threaded for end caps but that can be tapped pretty easily if need be.

Tilta rods are really well made. Perfect for building up a rig. Great quality, super lightweight. Will buy more if needed.
