The biggest benefit to this handle is its small size. The functionality and excellent design is a plus as well. I have it mounted atop my SmallRig Rhinoceros Cage for Sony a7R V. The Tilta Compact NATO Rail Top Handle is small enough that it allows you to still look through the camera's EVF without being poked in the forehead. All the other top handles I've tried were too long and had to be removed in order to use the viewfinder. This is a huge bonus because there are times when you need to use a viewfinder and don't have time to remove the top handle. The second benefit is the excellent build quality, fit and finish and comfort of the handle. Tilta seems to be a cut above when it comes to elegant design and build. It feels great in the hand even though it's relatively short. It's also very lightweight and the added bonus is that it employs a NATO rail, making it very easy to quickly remove, adding to its versatility. If you are someone who uses a top handle all the time and you have large hands, perhaps look at the Tilta Xeno Top Handle, which is much larger but every bit as nice and very comfortable. 5-Stars and Highly Recommended.

I'll keep it short and sweet.1. No instructions inside or online of how to install this smaller-than-every other NATO handle.2. It won't fit on the Tilta camera cage as indicated either.3. Their customer service never returned my letter asking for written directions or video link.

As I add to my camera rigs I learn new things about features and usability of the components - and my latest knowledge involves NATO rails. These rails allow for quick assembly and disassembly of the components of a rig - and the minimization of the hassle factor associated with these tasks. For example one of my favorite handles uses two floating screws to attach to the rig - which means that I have to play with each of them to get them to engage... and then, of course, screw them in and tighten them up. It seems like the more of a hurry I'm in - the harder it is to get the screws to line up properly. When given the opportunity to review this Tilta Compact NATO Top Handle - I quickly ordered one. After reviewing my mounting options, I also ordered a 48mm NATO rail to use on top of my rig which matched the intended rig perfectly and also gives me a little room to slide the handle to one side or the other for balance whenever the load on the rig is not centered. The handle is quite comfortable with rounded edges all around and a generous rubber insert to provide grip. The front of the handle is designed to accommodate the user's index finger with comfort beneath the ARRI mount should the user prefer to hold the handle in such a manner. I find myself using it this way. This acquisition is changing my whole strategy for future rig modifications. The NATO rail concept is a solid system - and it makes assembling and disassembling the rigs easy as can be. I can remove this top handle by simply flicking the release tab; pressing down on the safety pin at the end of the rail; and sliding the handle off the rail.In closing - this is the sixth or seventh Tilta item I've acquired and I have been very pleased with each and every one of them. If you're in the market for a compact top handle - I would not hesitate to recommend this handle to you.

So I'm using this currently with a ZVE1 tilta cage and there's a few glaring things that I immediately noticed. But let's start with the good:- The handle is comfortable and high quality. I think the rubber compound for the grip and machining overall is much better quality than any of the competitors (smallrig, sirui, neewer, etc.) great job, tilta.- It's compact. I love how small it is without compromising mounting points. There's still arri locating pins for attaching a monitor and other 1/4-20 mounting points. And most of all, it's small but NOT uncomfortable to hold, so it doesn't add too much weight and bulk to the rig. Here's what I didn't like:- As some reviewers have noted, the NATO clamp on this particular handle is a bit hit or miss. Truthfully, I was using generic NATO rails and did NOT have this issue, but I did have a particular issue I wanted to address when using it with low-profile NATO rails (not the tall ones that are bulky). I COULD NOT get it to work with a low profile NATO rail on top of my ZVE1 cage; the NATO clamp was rubbing against the top of the cage and just simply wouldn't fit. If I removed the NATO rail without the cage attached, I could get the clamp to slide in, but then I couldn't tighten the rail onto my cage because the screws were then blocked by the clamp... so it totally defeats the point. What was my solution? I used a taller NATO rail (not the low-profile) and it fits like a champ. Not totally ideal, for sure.- The screw to tighten the NATO clamp is blocked by part of the handle. So you can't easily unscrew the rig without doing some weird finger maneuvers (you have to lift the springloaded screw and reposition it, tighten half way, and then do that again, rinse and repeat until it's tight) ... It's really annoying, but not a deal breaker to me. I know this design decision was most likely to keep the handle more low-profile... but then I'm not sure why the mount doesn't work with low-profile rails... I know most people just slide NATO rails off (as they were designed) so you don't need to completely loosen it, but sometimes, I just want to easily be able to screw and unscrew it off.- And the last design choice that I'm not too fond of is the angle of the front arri mount where you would typically attach a field monitor. The angle is angled downwards... and to me, that is NOT how I want my monitor to sit. I'm not sure why they couldn't have just used a more neutral angle for the arri locating mount area..

So disappointed! This handle looked perfect and matched my build exactly, however it simply doesn‘t fit. Not the nato rail built into my half cage, and not the smallrig nato rail I bought to mount this on the top of my cage. Also, the seller does not cover the shipping for the return, which means I’m also out of pocket to get it this defective product back to them.
