Got this tracker about two weeks ago for our cat. It replaced another brand that is now no longer supported. I did a good bit of comparison over a period of months and landed here. Overall am very pleased, with only two small complaints, neither of which are deal breakers. The pros: 1. It’s smaller and lighter than I expected. Our cat—used to the previous tracker which was more square and a little heavier—took to this immediately. No fussing. 2. The interface on my iPhone is exceptional. Love many details, including 3 kinds of maps, visual history of where our cat has gone (including hot zones), battery strength indicator, etc. First class. 3. Really nice features, like being able to share access in a couple of the plans, the battery saver when it’s in home WiFi range, the locator function when it’s in that WiFi range, etc. 4. Yes we pay for gps function but seeing everywhere our cat goes more than makes up for it. 5. Very reasonable price. Overall a superior product.Cons: 1. I really wish there were a way to remove from our cat without taking the whole cat collar off. I worry about wearing out the collar latch. Our cat is indoor/outdoor so we have to have it on all the time. 2. Battery life is shorter and more inconsistent than I wish. Needs to be charged every 3 days even with it being in the battery saver mode at least half the time. And battery seems to drain inconsistently.Definitely recommended. Our cat is about 7.5 lbs, so not large, and it does not bother her. Excellent product!

I really cannot complain about the tracker as it has met my expectations given the other options available. I have been using the tracker for about four months.Love power saving mode - battery will last for weeks as long as device is within my WiFi range (and not using GPS live tracking or GPS normal tracking). My cat is almost always within WiFi range of my home, so he seldoms goes beyond that area. So I just charge the battery every few weeks.Love virtual fences - the options for creating virtual fences that are Safe or Danger zones is nice. The normal safe zone is the WiFi range around my house, and if the tracker goes outside of WiFi, I will get an alert within a few minutes. I just wish it would allow more than five virtual fences (combination of safe and danger fences) since my cat stays over at different family homes frequently.Love GPS Live tracking - on a few occasions where my cat got outside the Safe Zone (WiFi range), the GPS "Live" tracking worked well in my area. I was able to find my cat easily a few homes away using "Live Tracking". The battery does drain faster obviously when in Live tracking mode since it is updating the location every few seconds. so you really can't go that long in Live tracking mode when trying to find my cat (I am guessing it would last an hour or so), but that does not bother me since I only use Live Tracking in emergencies. When using normal GPS tracking (when outside the WiFi power saving area and NOT using the emergency Live tracking), the device would probably not consume the battery that fast since it is only updating the location very 10 minutes or so (or the 20 minute real power saving mode). But I don't have an estimate on how many days the battery would last since I have not tested that.Love family sharing - As I mentioned earlier, my cat stays over at the homes of others. So other people can also use the app and tracker, and have Safe Zones within their WiFi range of their home.Love the notifications - I get notifications when my cat is outside the Safe Zone (WiFi), or battery is low, or battery is fully charged.Love the size - I have a 10 lb cat, so the size does not bother him. It is not that huge of device, like slightly smaller than the size of and actual mini-candy bar you give out at Halloween. And I do not have the collar on him all the time, only when he goes outside.Just FYI....I used my old 3/4" wide collar with the device. I did not use the much narrower collar provided with the device, so I have no critique of the provided collar. I only used the rubber surround provided with the device, and then easily mounted the rubber surround on the 3/4" wide collar I had. I am not sure why someone would use the additional plastic clip since that would make it more uncomfortable for the cat, and make it harder to remove the device for charging. The only two wishes. You have to remove the device from the collar and use the specialized battery charging clip to charge the device. So I wish I could just leave the device on the collar and plug in a mini-USB plug or something like that. And like I previously mentioned, I wish it would allow more than five virtual fences.Summary - It works well and provides wonderful peace of mind.

Recomiendo buscar otras opciones.

I bought this tracker for my cat, who (against my best efforts) would get out of the house and leave the backyard. I couldn't contain him. He was a hunter and eventually I had to succumb to the fact that he needed to be outside. I purchased the tracker last summer for my cat so I could see where he goes.At first I thought it was really cool that I could track my cat. But then I started noticing that the tracker was "making up" locations and would constantly ping back to home when he was not actually home. The tracking was largely inaccurate because it wasn't real time tracking, it was quite delayed. Also, the Bluetooth feature was useless because you would have to be literally within a few feet of him, in direct line of sight to be able to use the radar function. And if you're that close, you don't need the radar... For example, sometimes I could see him directly in front of me and the Bluetooth radar would say he wasnt within range.Another issue is the power saving zone. If you live in the city, the power saving zone radius is way too big. It covers a very large radius at the smallest setting. So the power saving zone included parts of the road outside my house and my neighbors house and 2 other backyards. I couldn't shrink it to just my house or my backyard. To give you an idea, we have a fairly large backyard and average size home about 1500sqft. I think this device was meant for either very large properties or on farms or acreages. When you delete the zone, it takes several hours to refresh, or when the tracker leaves the zone. Which, if you're trying to locate your pet, is a useless feature because several hours is a very long time for a pet to go missing. You'll find out why later in my review. Unfortunately the battery drains way too quickly to not use this feature, and you might get a couple days out of the battery without the power saving zone. Less if you're actively tracking all the time. Can't track anything if it doesn't have a charge. The battery lasted about a week on one charge with the power saving zone on.It was a nice feature to have a safe zone and a no-go zone, however the notifications are extremely delayed. I would get a notification long after my cat entered an area. Which was really annoying when he entered a no-go zone. I would get the notification and go out to look for him, only to find him in my backyard, napping on a chair.Lastly, and this is the biggest issue... I had false peace of mind using this device. My cat was in the power saving zone and when he didn't come back inside right away, I noticed the tracker said it was offline. I didn't get an alert and I didn't know what this meant. I also dont know how long it was offline for. Because my cat was still within the power saving zone (actually he was on the edge of it but because this tracker is so inaccurate it did not register him outside of it), it did not warn me that he had stepped out into the road. After he did not come home when I called out to him, I went out looking for him. I couldn't use the tracker because it still said offline. I found him dead. He had been run over by a car. I don't know how long he had been like this, but another family member let him outside that morning, so possibly several hours. I found him a few hours after I noticed his tracker was offline. I tried troubleshooting in the app to figure out why it was offline, which is why it took me so long to realize what had happened. I tried deleting the power saving zone too, to try to track his last known location. But that didn't work because it wouldn't refresh and it doesn't track within that zone. FYI, offline means it got smashed up and is no longer recognizable. I am devasted, and while I know it is not the trackers fault, I wished I had more notice that something was wrong. I thought he was safe, because I never got a notification he was in the no-go zone. He died alone and was badly hurt. I know he suffered because he dragged himself off the road to his safe spot under a neighbor's trailer to die. I found his smashed up collar on the road, and the tracker was in pieces, scattered.I have over a year left on my subscription and the policies of this app and usage of the device say no refunds. They suggest to gift the rest of the subscription to a friend. But why would I ever recommend false peace of mind to someone else? It's a scam. We paid the price so they could make profit. If you're wanting to purchase this product, please understand that while it's neat to see where they go, a lot of the features are either unusable or frankly dangerous if you have a roaming pet. It may be better to invest in ways to better secure your yard, or an electronic fence. I wish I had gone that route instead. Lesson learned.

11/9/24 I’ve been a customer for over a year now. Buttercup is still on her first tracker and it still works great. Atticus’ 5th tracker’s sound feature didn’t work. His 6th tracker got lost. His 7th tracker won’t connect to GPS. I just ordered #8I’ve really come to rely on these things and am hoping that as their popularity increases, they reliability doesn’t decrease. I feel as though I’m already noticing a difference.8/22/24: Atticus' 5th tracker arrived with a glow in the dark collar that I did not order. I wonder if the Tractive Group saw my review and tossed it in to sooth my upset. It worked. This time, I decided to try the plastic bit to attach the tracker instead of the silicone sheath, because that's what the video instructions said to do. It's only been two days, but it's working.8/13/24: My female, Buttercup, is still using the same tracker I bought her 10 months ago. I just ordered my male, Atticus, his 5th tracker. This last one did not last too much more than one week. The collar didn’t pop off. The tracker fell out of the holder. I’m upset. I spend a fortune on these things. This time, I’m not sure it was my cat’s doing.Originally reviewed October 2023,Updated 7/31/24: I am about to replace another tracker and decided to update my review again. I have come to really rely on these things and highly recommend them even though they still are far from perfect.First let me say that I got this because my neighbor uses it for one of her cats and recommended it. The mixed reviews worried me, but after a few weeks of use, I am changing my review to recommend it also. It’s not perfect, but it works.I bought two. One was faulty, but Amazon replaced it easily. Because of this, I set up my male cat's tracker first and had time to think about whether I wanted to pay for two accounts. It's stressful, because they ask that we pay for two years of tracking up front. It's a lot of money before we know whether or not we are even going to use the product. It's not a perfect system, but I did go ahead and buy a second 2 year package for my girl cat about a week or two later.ISSUE ONE: The WiFi setting is NOT at all helpful. Just don't use it!Others mentioned this in their reviews, so for the first almost 10 months , I didn’t bother with it. Then, yesterday, when setting up my boy's 4th replacement, I thought what the heck and gave it a try. IT’S HORRIBLE!!! It said my cat was safely in the WiFi zone (though he was nowhere I could see) and it would not allow me to locate him in any way. I went outside and just called for him.Others are right. It is difficult to toggle back to the GPS side. I had to delete my “Power Save” zone and then wait for what seemed like an hour for the system to update. Even then, it said my connection was weak to track at first.Luckily, my cat is a good boy and comes when called.ISSUE TWO: The location is not super accurate. It’ll alert me that my cat has left my property and returned and left and returned when all the while the cat is asleep on the sofa next to me.Because of this, I don't really give the text alerts telling me they've left "Home" too much regard. If I get a text alert that they've entered a danger zone, then I open the app and Live Track my cat.Live Tracking isn't 100% exact either, but if I had to estimate, I'd say that its accuracy is within a few feet. So, I get a general idea of which back yard to call toward. But this lack of accuracy means that I completely disregard bonus features like tracking my cat’s activity and health. The location isn't accurate enough to know when your cat isn't moving, and if it does finally detect that your cat is still, it's more likely the cat is no longer wearing the tracker. They seemed to update the software recently, and I think it actually made the location a little worse.BUT knowing where my cat is, even if generally, is so much better than having no idea where he is!!! And that's why this product is useful.ISSUE THREE: I bought all my trackers when they were on sale for about $35. For this reason, I didn't bother getting the insurance (as it only replaces one tracker per year. Now that Atticus is on his (updated) 5th tracker in 10 months time, I see how getting one tracker for slightly less might have been nice, but it's up to you. Buttercup is still on her first tracker.ISSUE FOUR: The sound the tracker plays is very soft. You have to be fairly close to hear it. I have forgotten where I put it down in the house and located it with the sound feature, but outside...nope. Unless the cat is right next to me, it's almost impossible to hear. The light feature during the day will seem equally useless. However, I had the opportunity to need it once in the dark, and it is super useful then. That said, the sound feature is my favorite (outside of Live Tracking). I trained my cats to come for a treat every time I play the sound on their collars. Now, my boy (who is very treat motivated) can be on the next street over. I can play the sound on his collar, and 3 out of 4 times, he'll just trot home for his treat. My guess is that 25% of the time, he's in hot pursuit of some prey and just ignores my request. In those cases, I go and fetch him.ISSUE FIVE: Another feature I do not bother using is the Radar. Because I don't have WiFi set up, it is completely useless.I tried to retrieve all four of my lost trackers, and it's totally hopeless. The accuracy isn't precise enough. The sound feature isn't loud enough. The collar often pops because the cat is in location with a lot of bushes and shrubs. So...ISSUE FIVE: Battery. Any GPS app will drain a phone's battery. Using Live Tracking drains both the tracker's battery and my phone's. When I first got these things, I Live Tracked them quite a lot. I was curious to learn their routines. So, I was charging phones and trackers all the time. Now, I've found solutions. One, I don't have to Live Track as much as I before, because I have a sense of what my cat's routines are. Two, I keep a portable phone charger handy for those moments when my phone is at 20%, but I need to go and find a cat. Three, I charge my trackers at a minimum of every second day. I never let my cat's go out with them at less than 50%.The good news is, the trackers charge pretty quickly.ISSUE SIX: This one was in my initial review, but they fixed it pretty early on. When I first got the trackers, I couldn't see both my cats on the same map. Instead, I had to toggle back and forth to their individual maps. Now, however, I can Live Track them both at the same time and watch them on a single map. So, it's no longer an issue.ISSUE SEVEN: My last issue, and it's a minor one. The Tractive company is located in Europe. When I first received a faulty tracker, I tried to contact them. I'm in California. So, the time difference made it virtually impossible. They did eventually handle my issue, but they never responded to my email, and I was not able to get them on the phone. All my issues aside, here is why this product works for me: The app allows me to set up a virtual fences (lines on a GPS map). Whenever my cat crosses one of these lines, my phone sends me an alert. (Again, it's not perfect, but it's functional.) I’ve now created a network of neighbors who know my cats. They have name tags and are microchipped, and with this app, it's the best I can do for them when they're outside.I know the outside-cat haters are many, opinionated and loud, but my boy cat's personality changes when he's not allowed outside. He becomes moody and anti-social and hisses at people when they try to pet him. A few hours outside each day, and he is the friendliest most easy-going cat people have ever met, he's loving and lovely and pure joy, AND NO AMOUNT OF INDOOR ENRICHMENT CHANGES THIS. Both my cats adore being outside, and this tracker is part of my compromise with them. Will it guarantee their safety? No. It does offer me tremendous peace of mind though.

1. The battery life on the device sucks. And it sucks even more because the makers of this created a way to "save battery" by asking users to set up a Power Saving Zone. This requires setting up your home wi-fi to search for your pet via bluetooth under a tab called FIND NEARBY. They wanted to do the same thing the makers of Tile, Airtag and Galaxy Smartag did. However Tile , Airtag, etc. do not force you to have your phone GPS on at all times for this Power Safe Zone to work just via BLUETOOTH. Yet Tractive does which in turn extends the device's battery and instead drains your phone battery. Why Tractive engineers force having phone GPS on with a feature that doesn't find the pet via GPS. Strange!2. The IRONY of all the above is that the 2nd way Tractive allows you to track your pet is via Google GPS with a tab called LIVE. You can ONLY use the LIVE tab if you are far away from your home's wi-fi Power Saving Zone since this feature really uses just GPS. Even turning off wi-fi on your phone WON'T allow you to use LIVE. One could think who cares to use LIVE via GPS if the cat is at home. EXCEPT if you set up Power Safe Zone it seems 70% of the time you cannot track the cat with FIND NEARBY. In other words setting Power Safe Zone messes up the app and your cat is untraceable . So you won't know if cat left the house!I kept thinking it was a fluke . Attempted every solution to a lame girl. Erase cache on app, log in and out of the app, get close to the pet. ONLY SOLUTION was to erase the Wi-fi Power Saving Zone .3. After erasing the unusable "power saving zone" the battery on the device lasted about 40 hours. It takes around 3 hours for the device's battery to charge. A cat or dog can get lost during this time. So I STRONGLY ADVICE swapping your pet to a temporarily Airtag if you have an Iphone or a Smarttag PLUS if you have a newer Samsung Galaxy. These bluetooth trackers are pretty accurate and have longer range bluetooth capability than Tractive. You are not required to have GPS enabled on your phone at all times to track your pet via bluetooth since they are not GPS trackers. They also don't require a subscription. Having them wear something is better than nothing unless you want to purchase 2 Tractives devices AND pay 2 subscriptions for just 1 pet while one of the devices is charging. But wait read more...4. Tractive Ring tone is very low. The Galaxy Smartag Plus and Tile ring tone are a lot louder. You better wear a hearing aid to find your pet via the Tractive ring tone.5. While learning the Tractive app found an "interesting" button called Heat and Tracemap. This button supposedly shows where your cat has been. Somehow it showed my cat had moved 407 feet. Not sure how this could have happened. Unless my cat has invisible levitating powers unbeknown to me. The device was on my lap then on my cat who sat 5 feet away from me. Another fluke!6. Tractive has a tab called Virtual Fences. I live in a 4000 + sq foot home with 80 feet length of AC area. Was getting excited something finally would be of use in this app. Wanted to know if my cat jumped out in the pool, yard or escaped. EXCEPT when setting the perimeter around my home I kept getting a warning saying: " The Virtual Fence is Too Small" . What?7. Tractive requires you to pay RIGHT AWAY for a subscription. You don't even get a 1 day free trial test. Buy the device and be ready to pay upfront 1 year. Yes feel free to waste your time asking for your money back because we all have lots of it to spare trying to recover the $ that took us time to make.Dear Garmin please start making GPS devices for cats. You guys are the gurus of anything GPS.For now I will be testing the Marco Polo tracker and use this Tractive to track coons and possums inside my garbage can instead. That may be the only place this stupid device works.
