While I loved the vintage/used look of this helmet, I wasn't very happy when I tried it on. The Dakota Western helmet sat on top of my ears and looked odd (almost like if you smooshed a moderately deflated volleyball on your noggin.) I measured my head for this helmet before ordering it, and the measurements sized out as a "small". I recommend ordering one size up only if you are on the higher end of a size range. That way, you won't look like an equine rider bobble-head on the trails. I gave this Troxel 4 stars instead of 3 because riders should ALWAYS wear helmets when they ride, the Troxel brand is my #1 pick for helmet safety and product line choices, and the helmet still looks good when I loosen the rear head strap and seat it lower on my head.

I have been using Troxel helmets for the past 15 years and have always been pleased. This helmet is no exception.

Well built. Like the finish. Worth the price. Use it all the time. It fit like the their sizing said it would.

Fit nice and snug on my head. Have had it for about a year and its held up to moderate usage. Ive never dropped it or fell on my head while wearing it, but its been knocked around a little and still looks fine. Has a nice finish and a western show style. Great helmet for reasonable price!

I returned this helmet after trying it on. The adjustable pieces at the back of the helmet are hard plastic and come to a sharp point. No matter how I adjusted them, they still poked into the base of my head/top of my neck. Overall, the helmet did not fit as I expected. One plus is that it is light weight.
