I'm new at this, however, I would expect these to generate a small voltage when exposed to light much like a generic LED does. They do not. In researching, I learn that these likely only respond to ultraviolet light like sunlight. So, I tried them in sunlight and got a 0.002 volt response. Nearly useless. They do, however, act like a photoresistor and change resistance with any light (i.e. LED flashlight or sunlight). However, a regular old generic clear LED still works better than these.
