This violin case is identical to their viola case -which I'd give 5 stars - but the violin case is just smaller.Complaint #1: That means that you'll find it difficult to fit in your shoulder rest.In my case, pun intended, I was able to place the shoulder rest in with the feet facing up next to the tuning pegs.Because of where the violin pegs are positioned on the violin, I could only place the shoulder rest on the side closest to me.Complaint #2: the lid does not close evenly. You have to twist it to confirm that it's seating appropriately.For the money, the lid should not be warped.Complaint #3: Styrofoam packing? Really? I had to unpack the case outside where the stray styrofoam crumbs could blow away rather than get all over the house. I'm seeing other packages successfully use corrugated cardboard - after all, it's the 21st century.Plus #1: I have a violin pickup installed on my violin and the lid clears it just fine.Plus #2: The quality of the case's shell is extremely high and the inside supporting structure is well designed; therefore, the will provide excellent protection for your instrument.I'd give it 4 stars it the case wasn't so expensive - and then I could overlook the shortcomings.
