Ok, this really works and does exactly what it says it does. I have a portable android auto screen that I wanted to put up, and this did the trick. My screen is a little thick in the back, so I do wish this could grab thicker screens a little better, but it does work. It's grabbing it still, just not as perfectly as the back is thicker than a normal tablet. It hasn't fallen off yet.Now, while it does work, and works well, you'll have to look at your car and decide if you really want a tablet attached to your vent. Will it cover up buttons you'll need? Will it block air? Is that a good spot? It sure does make it easier to read the screen without taking your eyes off the road for as long. I don't love mounting my screens on the dash, as it blocks my view, but the cup holder mount puts the screen in a low area, and I feel like my eyes are off the road a lot longer than I'd want when I'm already lost. The vent is a good height for me, but a downside is the vent coverage, and possible heat added to your device if you have the heat on. You can't adjust the vent angle with this in either. It has a great grip, so it's not coming out accidentally. It does exactly what it says it'll do.

I ordered this $27 Woleyi vent phone mount (Amazon ASIN B0CP6VR2WZ) for my kid's college beater because the cupholder mounts got in the way of shifting, and the windshield mounts kept falling off, and the dashboard mounts drooped in the hot sun, and the cd player mounts kept vibrating and falling off, etc.My kid is using it for a phone, and not for a tablet.I was pleasantly surprised after reading the instructions provided that the advantage of these vent mounts are that the phone is held securely unlike with the cd player mounts. I was happy that the phone was held out of the way unlike the cupholder mounts. And I was happy that the mount didn't require sticky pads and suction cups that the windshield and dashboard mounts needed.I was initially worried that this would damage the vent but it doesn't seem to bother the vents at all. And best of all, the vents are already perfectly placed for the driver so the phone is always in the right position.The only bad thing about the vent mounts is if you want to remove it, say when parking, it's more of a pain than most of the other mounts, and, it's harder to just remove it to fiddle with the phone up close when you need to do that. You have to take the phone out of the vise to fiddle with the phone. Otherwise, you mess with the phone at arms length as it's attached to the vents. For viewing, it's perfect. Not so much for fiddling with it.Overall this is a good vent-mounted phone holder, where the vise is just barely thick enough (as you can see from my photos attached) to hold my phone which has a thick case. I don't understand why they don't make these vise tips just a quarter of an inch (or so) thicker - but they are what they are. I hope this heartfelt effort at providing a reliably detailed fact-based review has earned your respect in helping you make a more informed purchasing decision.

This holder consists of two parts. The frame that holds the device is really respectable – very sturdy, small when collapsed and extends to accept a wide variety of devices. The phones can only fit vertically – and even the smallest one I had around was big enough to fit. The smallish tablet I tried it with fit both vertically and horizontally – and would have a solid grip even with a water-resistant pouch on it; in the horizontal mode it would grab just about any size tabled – and definitely all the ones that would make sense to be affixed to a car dashboard. Its weight – 138 g – is about 87% of the entire holder.The remaining 20g are in the clamp that grabs the air vent blade. The two parts connect by a ball which allows good adjustment - 360° vertically and about 270° horizontally. At first glance, it also looked promising: fairly long claw, and the tightening mechanism that allows a positive grip. It is meant to grab the blade on its long side, not just around the thin cross-section like most ones I’ve seen. This is the feature that makes is stand out – and also makes it iffy. I’ve tried it on four different cars, and it didn’t work on any of them. On some of them the blades were too wide even for its extra-long clamp - that is where the approach of grabbing onto the blade’s cross section, despite being less secure, would have somehow worked; on the others the clamp was too wide to fit safely between the blades. On one car I was able to hook the clamp to the grill right next to the door – but in that tight spot there was no room to attach even an empty frame, let alone a phone or tablet in it. So this holder in its intended use is basically useless – for me; there may be the vehicles where it would fit well.Let us assume we’ve got a vehicle where the clamp fits perfectly. With the phones I had at hand, we would then be looking on attaching anywhere between 280 g (the smallest one) and 393 g (my current one) to hang on a single air vent blade (this includes the weight of the holder itself). With a small tablet, we go easily over a pound. I personally would not trust hanging that weight on a single blade – but then again, maybe there are blades that can handle it. Next, what about the primary functions of the ait vent – directing heating and cooling? The directing function is gone, and the hot or cold air blow straight to the device… Finally, mounting a phone on a dashboard is not too bad, they are small enough so a position can be found that does not interfere [too much] with other instruments; with a tablet, that is more challenging.Based on all of this, it is rather obvious I find this holder of no use to me – if used as intended. Why then three stars?Because the frame is great, and it can be used in other setups. It can be attached to other mounting mechanism, even if they don’t have perfectly sized balls; a 5/8 dowel, or a 1/2 barbed poly connector fit well (as pictured). And some stands may have something that would work with it, like a rubber strap (pictured on a ).
