I don't normally leave reviews, but this book is a treasure. Most journals I've found go overboard in their attempt to provide an organized structure and it becomes overwhelming. The layout of this journal is clean in appearance. It provides structure without overwhelming my senses. It is undated, so it doesn't burden me with an additional commitment. I can use it as often or as little as I want. I love the random check-in pages that force me to stop and reflect on my progress. This book provides a game plan which helps prevent impulsivity and it lays out a roadmap to better understand my thought process and identify ways of managing emotions more effectively.I have paired this with a daily planner that is also undated, very clean in appearance, and well structured (Panda Planner). I thought I would hate having a collection of books, but I actually like it. It provides the structure I need without being overwhelmed. It's like having a separate textbook for different subjects.

I really enjoy this little notebook. Small and subtle, I take it with me to work because work can also cause me to need to stop and process a moment discretely while looking like I'm taking notes so that I can react more professionally and not emotionally. This book not only takes the time to go through the CBT process at the beginning, gives a pre-printed example on how to use it, and reminds you CBT processing isn't to create a positive outlook on an emotionally displeasing situation, it just makes it so your outlook a more realistic. It's stopped be a couple of times from not emotionally reacting. The exterior material of the journal is kind of rough, and weather that was on purpose or not, it would ground me and remind me I'm holding a tool that can help me process this situation, but that may just something I experienced. My biggest nit-pick is the pages are thin so using a gel pen, which are my favorite, can be hit and miss and can bleed through. It is on the smaller side so if you can find a pen that allows to to write smaller it could help, but again the size, I think, helps it feel more discrete, so pros and cons of course. I do recommend this journal ☺

Love the journal. I was looking for a journal with prompts like these but a lot of the other ones didn’t really fit my style or they didn’t feel all that productive. I like how this one is discreet and looks like a regular journal while also giving me useful prompts. The design has made it one of my go-to’s for journaling in public without feeling like people are judging me.

I know it sounds extreme to say that this journal changed my teenagers life, but it did. She writes in this journal everyday. She was battling with extreme depression and lonelieness. Very deep emotions for such a sweet young girl and alot of negative thoughts plaguing her. I purchased this for her because I was terrified of what would happen if I did not intervene. She needed a safe place to work out her emotions and her thoughts. I gave it to her Sep 5. I told her that it was her safe place to write down whatever she wanted and I’d check it to be sure she was using it but I pinky promised her that I’d never ever read it. She filled the entire thing and a little more than a month. I’ve now purchased 5.I love how discreet it is and how it prompts you to think through your issue. It’s easily customizable or it just can be left blank. It’s about the size of a composition notebook.

First off, I really like that it’s sleek, black and discreet; only showing the Four Progress logo on the front cover. As shown in the photos i’ve taken, there’s some guidelines that go more in depth about articulation, awareness, analysis and adjustment. Followed by disclaimers and then some useful journal tips. The next page is an example journaled entry and then the rest is all empty pages for your own entries. Lastly, there’s a couple pages at the very end made for reflection on the progress made from your journaling experience.I purchased this for myself as someone who struggles with anxiety. I’m a newbie at journaling, so I believe that having some guidance on what to write, or where to start rather, will be beneficial for me and hopefully helps turn journaling into a habit. I don’t believe I’ll plan to do this every day, but I do want to utilize this during bad anxiety periods. This would also be a great gift for someone in your life, or yourself, who may struggle with anxiety or depression or even just a journal to express every day thoughts! I rated the value for money 4/5 only because I believe that there are cheaper options out there for this type of journal rather than paying $20.I’ll report back later on with an update on the quality of the notebook and how it’s holding up, as far as the spine goes. I hope this review helps you make your decision on purchasing, taking into consideration your current wants and needs. Thanks for reading!
