I really wanted this to work. I have an XVIVE system for my IEM's, so I like the company. I'm in a band that plays 80+ shows a year in Florida. I've been a musiciian for over 3 decades and I know how to use gear. In theory this is a great idea. Take one end, plug it into a regular or phantom powered mic and you are good to go. After trying this 2X at gigs, there was just too much cut out, and not clear at all. I went with a much less expensive [Tonor] wireless system that works amazing. I've left a review for the Tonor. Sorry XVive, I still like your products, but this just didn't work for me.

I'm a career audio engineer. I picked this up to help measure timing in sound systems. Not having to run a huge mic cable all over the venue would be amazing. I've seen a couple of my peers using them. I'm told there is no companding in these units as digital transmitters, and thus is accurate for timing where most conventional analog RF are not. I've found no documentation on these that discusses it though. The standard tool for this is about $2k.The Smaart trace is pictured. The self-latency consistently measured 4.38 ms. The straight red line at -4 in the transfer function is a cable, pink noise output to input. The green line is through the XVIVE. For the money I was pleasantly surprised to find it nearly flat +-1.5 db through most of the spectrum. There's a gentle roll-off starting about 7k. A touch of hi shelf EQ will likely to be helpful for transmitting voice/music.Bottom line I won't be using it for super clinical tonal tuning decisions, but that's not what I'm after anyway, just timing measurements. Used it just once so far, to approx 110ft, no issues.Comes with a clever dual micro-usb cable for recharging. And it's super nice that it's such a common phone charge port. Really happy so far.
