This sisal was exactly as described and easy to work with. After wrapping the cats' favorite scratching post, they were even more attracted to working their murderous claws on the new sisal. The unexpected and most welcome free toy that came with the rope was a very nice touch.

This is some decent rope, I trust that is "natural fiber" and it is ideal for scratch-post material. I used it to replace the carpeting on a retail scratch-post that I'd had less than a year before it was shredded and ripped down to bare wood and it turned out great. I used a combination of U-type staples from a staple-gun and occasional beads of Gorilla brand wood glue to attach it to the cardboard post. The post is about 5 3/8" in diameter and a tad over 19 1/2" long and this 164' rope covered it with about a foot left over. It's holding up pretty well but I will use more glue and more staples on the next project. My cat had an initial freak-out the first time he jumped on it after I added the rope but after a few times of meowing around it and a little reassuring encouragement from me he tears into it multiple time a day or an hour once again. It is his perch in the master bedroom but trust me when I say he is really aggressive, sometimes with all four paws, at scratching this post and the Yangbaga Sisal Rope for Cats - 1/4 Inch - Natural Fiber and Color can take it.I added a photo of it from 11/03/2022 right after I installed it and a couple of photos from 06/07/2023 to show the durability.

It seems like a good quality sisal (I’m no expert). You’ll want to use gloves to work with it if you have really sensitive skin. There was a bit of smell when I unwrapped the roll, but not so much that it lingers on the cat tower once it’s wrapped. And the sisal wasn’t rolled in such a way to make it easy to work with. I had to cut the cords and untangle the whole thing and rewrap it in a ball to be able to wind it around the tower posts more easily. It was a slightly different colour than the original sisal on my particular cat tower (I don’t care about that, but some might). It was also a different thickness than the original (again, I’m not worried). It doesn’t go as far as you might think it will. I got one full post wrapped, about a foot and a half tall, and reused the old sisal bits from that post that were still in fairly long sections to rewrap part of the second post that was shredded, and then had enough new sisal to wrap the top of a third post that was shredded. Very rough estimate would be about two feet of height on a 3-3.5” post.Worked well enough for what I needed.

Here is the cat tree with the new sisal rope. I replaced the full length of the left, bottom post. This sisal is a bit thicker than the original sisal, that you can see on the post on the second tier. I removed all the old sisal. I started at the top and worked my way to the bottom. At the top I tightly knotted the rope, and wrapped the rope over the other end as I worked my way down. At the bottom I ended it with a tight knot that is facing towards a wall, where my cats won’t notice it. On another post, I decided to just replace the damaged old rope area, not the full post. I removed loose old sisal, and again started from the top, covering the other end of the knotted rope at the top, as I worked downward. At the bottom of the repaired area, I ended the rope with a knot. I even unwound the sisal to create smaller knots to make it snug. If my cats had not been around, maybe I would have reinforced my end knots with glue. I’m very happy with the results. My cats have been using this for at least a month, and it’s holding up nicely! I still have leftover sisal which I will keep for any future repairs! I bought this product based on reviews! Thank you!
