So, far so good. Upgrading my equipment really made a difference in my latency and ping. My old router was Asus ROG 5400, had it for about 8 years, I believe. Never had any trouble with it. Every time, my ISP, would be it must be your router, I proved them wrong. I bought one of their recommended TP link routers and have kept it as a back up to prove them wrong. They were doing it this time, as well. Same thing, blaming my router, used the TP link, they still tried to wiggle out of it, bought this bad boy, and showed them they were wrong. They made a little effort, and as always found the problem on their end. I know networking, I do networking. If I call you then YOU have a problem, not me. 94% of the time, I am human and can miss something, do something stupid, make mistakes, etc... But when I call, which I now provide, I will have a folder full of data so I can't be jerked around. Not for long, I will also just say I have a problem, ran these tests, and see where they go, and then drop the bomb on them when they are wrong. Why am I telling you this, because I am almost always right because my ASUS routers hold up. They update the firmware regularly, and stay on top of things most of the time. If you have issues, always update your firmware first and test it, that will be the first thing they blame before looking in the issue. They are always going to assume it is you first, they will be overly nice about it, and yo may not even realize it, but they are, they do not like to admit they have issues. So eliminate problems up front.I have had other routers. Nothing like the old Linksys WRT54G. At the time, that thing was king. Not sure any other router will ever be so revered for its time. But Linksys and Cisco, who bought them out, have went down hill. They used to set the standard. But now, you want ASUS or TP Link. A TP Link is probably more user friendly for most of you. The ASUS has more bells and whistles, and gives you a little more control an options. Whatever model you decide on, search the TP Link vs. the ASUS version and chekc out a few comparisons, like on Tom's Hardware, and a few others, some do a better job than the others.Even though my other works just fine, it was a bit dated, and getting this one with wifi6 and a new wireless adapter dropped my latency and ping 30-40ms. I was running 60-70 at times, and now 20-30. Also, increased my upload and wireless downloads tremendously. I am almost as fast as being wired in, but not quiet, I am about 20 ft from the router. But I get pretty close to a gig download now, and that is my ISP cap.Super easy to setup. Now you can do it with your smart phone and do everything from the app. Quiet handy. This one is a costly one. But if I get another 6-8 years out of it, I will be happy and maybe wifi 7 will be out and affordable, while others are paying literal gold mines to use wifi 8 or 9

An outstanding upgrade from my old GT-AC5300. This is my new primary router for my network and I have 2 wireless nodes. Initially, it took a few minutes to balance and stabilize the node connections, but this was just the unit adapting to the environment. All of my speed tests have been much better since the upgrade and with generally lower latencies. I advise anyone who asks me (when it's relevant) to purchase ASUS products, and as long as they keep their level of performance and reliability, I will continue to do so.

I replaced a Linksys Mesh Wifi 6 Router & Linksys Velop Pro 6E WiFi Mesh Nodes. Why, Linksys tech support absolutely bricked my Linksys Mesh Wifi 6 Router, locked it up so it would not even allow a logon directly connected to a computer. I have used Linksys since 2014 with some but not may problems so I thought it would be just as good, was I ever wrong! First tech support is NOT useful. Second, product is NOT reliable. Compare that to the ASUS ROG Rapture GT-AXE11000 & ASUS ROG Rapture GT6 AX10000, Night vs Day, period. The tech support for Asus is FAR superior to Linksys, far, far, far superior. I programed the router, added and moved the nodes to their respective locations and enabled my Proton VPN on the router and programed the firewall. I set up the static IPs for my Security cams, my Synology Drive and other equipment I wanted the IP address fixed. To say this process was simple is an understatement. The GUI interface is exceedingly helpful and informative. It was build and programmed correctly with the end user in mind. What I liked, The GUI, Firewall, and Wireguard VPN support. What I do not like, the consistent drops of the ROG Rapture GT6 Nodes. It IS horrible, at a distance of 30 feet or so it drops over and over. This requires the user to reset the node and add it back in continually. To top that off the router acted up and started power cycling on and off without connecting. To address that I had to reset the router and repeat every step I made to the firewall and VPN programming. Tech support WILL help you with this process however, if you must add the nodes and correct issues with the router over and over, the product is useless to me. Toggling from Airmesh on the Dashboard to the Network map in the Advanced Settings section my connected node showed GREAT connection, and my Network map showed 3, then 4 bars all the while connecting, disconnecting, then reconnecting. I actually watched this take place and do it do it over and over. Keep in mind this node is less than thirty feet away! The other node set at ~30’ dropped after 4 hours of being connected and must be factory reset once again to add it back in. Note; at 40 feet the one node will not connect, move to 30 and it did but drops. Any closer than 30 - what use is a node? Checking the ASUS blogs identifies this as a documented issue with the system with bloggers really upset, rightfully so. This known issue has been left unaddressed, ignored, by Asus. Asus you have a great GUI, GREAT product support, and a terribly dysfunctional product, a product prone to crashes and drops. That IS the bottom line. I am moving on to TP-Link Tri-Band WiFi 7 BE22000 or NETGEAR Orbi. I guess I will be reviewing/testing products whether I wish or not simply as a customer needing one; preferably one that actually delivers on its promises. I am leaning towards NETGEAR as a US Based company and the warnings that TP Link sales may be banned in the future as a Chinese based corporation. Reason: Chinese law mandates that any security flaws identified in its products must first be reported to the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) a agency of the CCP. I ultimately choose Netgear. The very next day after placing the order I read a Christian Guyton article “I just learned something awful about my home Wi-Fi setup thanks to iFixit’s ‘worst of CES 2025’ awards” confirming my fears. I look for TP Link to soon go down the same path as TikTock.

Honestly it would be a great router but it has one major issue! The 2.4 ghz network seems to drop out at a very short distance for some reason.. Every test I tried came out with the same results. 5ghz worked great but the 2.4 was horrible! My 7 year old router 2.4ghz network could reach farther and not drop connection at all while this one constantly dropped. I tried updating the router but nothing helped.

I am a tech savy person and have been in the computer industry working with PC interfaces for over 25 years. I have never seen such a disappointing piece of hardware (Asus router GT-AXE11000), and tech support was unhelpful when calling in for help two times and spending hours on phone with no help. Tried one chat session with ASUS to no avail also. They had me put in a ticket and said I had to wait 4 days to escalate to level 2 tech support. I complained and said I just spent over $400 dollars on the device and need it to work now, and they just said there was nothing that could be done and I had to wait two business days, which included two non-business weekend days, so 4 days in total. I used the device for two more days to try and work out the issues but they just persisted and was frustrating. I returned the device and left the reason as no tech support, device does not work.Problem #1 - I cannot change wifi channels on a network and make them hold. WHen I change say the 2.4 network from auto moving to channel 11, the interface has no save button, and when you go back and then in again, it is in Auto again and network channel never changes. I only get a warning message about I am now changing wifi network, but nothing ever happen when I say ok. Tried answering cancer also to same outcome. The wifi channel moves automatically and this is not desired. NO ANSWER KNOWN by ASUS.Problem #2 - I cannot adjust wifi power on unit. NO ANSWER KNOWN.Problem #3 - Guest network keeps disappearing even when I check off unlimited use instead of hours of use in web interface GUI and also actual wifi band. NO ANSWER KNOWN by ASUS.Problem #4 - I cannot see clients that are offline on the web interface GUI (there is not even a place for them) / But I can see offline clients on Android Phone app. Why? TECH SUPPORT HAD ME OVER AN HOUR TRYING THINGS THAT I ALREADY TRIED. NO ANSWER KNOWN by ASUS.Problem #5 - The web interface GUI, when I click on wifi settings or guest network left hand side tabs, I lose internet in the house and the GUI interface gives a full-screen irrelevant warning. Then the wifi comes back on in a few minutes and the GUI page re-opens. Why? NO ANSWER KNOWN by ASUS TECH SUPPORT.Problem #6 - The web interface GUI is very quirky and not stable to use. Very quirky and slow-moving. NO ANSWER KNOWN by ASUS TECH SUPPORT.Problem #7 - Is there a way I can lock down the network from anyone else joining with credentials unless I allow them to? NO ANSWER KNOWN by ASUS TECH SUPPORT.Found the below links searching online. Seems ASUS or another business is supporting an alternative firmware for Asus router GT-AXE11000 due to possible issues. Totally unsure why this would necessary if ASUS has their own tech support. From the problem list above I cannot only imagine why possible solutions are needed. I spent many hours trying to make this device work as it had good performance and looked quality built, but it is not able to work reliably nor be adjusted via app and direct web based GUI.What is this: Seeing it online as an alternative firmware.
