Recently had a gas leak for the second time. Bought this item to make use the leak was entirely fixed. And it was! This is a great product, especially when it ensures me that the work was done correctly!

Claims 50-50000PPM detection range but I've only seen it be able to detect concentrations above 300PPM. With both natural gas and isopropyl alcohol I was able to smell the odorant/alcohol well before it registered on the detector. Similar with propane, brief squirts out of an unlit torch would only register if I pointed it right at the detector head. They state that the accuracy is only Most useful in confined spaces to warn of dangerous buildup of combustible gases (%LEL being lower explosive limit, at 100% the atmosphere is combustible). I would stick with the soapy water for minor pipe leaks, especially in any area with airflow. This just won't be sensitive enough at that level of dispersion at the leak.Unit is fairly well built. The main body outweighs the detector head even fully straightened out, so it won't tip over by itself. The integrated rechargeable 18650 li-ion cell is appreciated so you're not messing with AA/AAA batteries. It has rubber over-molding on both sides for a secure grip. The buttons are a bit cheap being just membrane switches. Also be aware that while the unit seems fairly splash proof, there is a small section of vent holes on the back near the top where the specifications are listed.

This is one of the best tools we have ever purchased. We had a gas leak on our carport and knew about where it was coming from. It was close to the house. My husbsnd started digging along the pipe and poking the sencer around. This little tool lit upas soon as he poked it near the pipe and lit up to 10 when it got to the leak. We found a pinhole in the gas line within minutes.A valuable tool to have in every home.

Lo probé con mi estufa de gas propano y pudo detectar el escape del gas rápidamente. Es muy útil y práctico, liviano y fácil de llevar. Este es uno de esos equipos que definitivamente hay que tener en casa. No tiene ninguna complicación para su uso: simplemente, se enciende, se espera que esté a punto y se chequea en todos los sitios necesarios. Ayuda a puntualizar el origen de alguna fuga. Detecta, gas natura y gas de pipeta, entre otros.
