I enjoy soy milk and love having a soy latte now and then, but for some reason, coffee shops no longer seem to carry soy milk. That made me curious about making it myself.I’ve made soy milk before using the traditional method—soaking the beans, blending them, straining the mixture through a mesh bag, and then boiling it. So, I was really curious to see how this machine compares. It’s surprisingly easy to use—just add soybeans and water, select the soybean mode, and in about 35 minutes, you have hot soy milk! I couldn’t believe it. However, the instructions weren’t clear on whether the beans needed to be soaked beforehand. I soaked them anyway, but I wish the manual had been more specific. Also, a fine mesh strainer isn’t enough to fully strain the milk. The machine grinds the soybeans into a very fine paste, so when using only a strainer, some residue settles at the bottom of the cup. A mesh bag may work best for wringing it out.Cleaning is effortless—just add water, switch to cleaning mode, and the machine heats up the water while spinning the blade for about 10 minutes. After that, you just dump the water out.Another unexpected perk is that it boils water in about 10 minutes, which is great since my electric kettle is at the end of its life.Overall, I’m impressed with this little machine. It works well, though clearer instructions and a better straining solution would make it even better. I might try some of the other recipes included in the recipe book.

OK, first I had to put it through all of its paces and man this thing works hard and does not disappoint. It took a while for the soybeans to show up, they don't sell them here in the stores unless you are a farmer and are planting them. So, I followed the very easy instructions and the next thing I knew I had wonder soy milk. I did an almond milk after that, and it has become a family favorite, and we serve it warm like hot cocoa. It cleans up a treat and stores very nicely in the kitchen pantry and I find that for the money, this will save us a fortune in the store-bought stuff that is always on some sort of a recall or another. I made a hot chocolate in it and let's just say this could get dangerous for my waistline it is that tasty. Would make a great gift for the health conscious or anyone who really wants to know what is in their food.
