Ford seems to think narrow safety chain receptacles are the way to go. Most 2” pins block a good portion of the truck’s holes for the chains. This 90° angle helps a lot.

The locks are very good if not some of the best. I would like to see a hole for a clip and may drill mine. It would be better if the factory made it that way I do not know how safe drilling them would be. I would feel safer with a clip. The lock end is thicker than many and the lock seems to be secure. Many people use it that way and there do not seem to be many accidents. Many people seem to have locks bind up. Manufacturer recommends a specific dry oil and it is possible to find. I have an older lock that I have used for years. It partially binds up and with oiling and wiggling it loosens up and works. I did not find a comparable lock at even double or triple the price.
