the trick of the oyster is to slide the blue wedge along its mouth to loosen it and then put just enough pressure to break it open. i also suggest placing napkins to dry out the excess water.anyway, i bought 2 of these (last year and recently) and they’ve both had good quality. the length of the chain is nice and goes well with the charm itself. however, the recent necklace (star) has a problem of a hole near the top. not sure why but it doesn’t bother me much, might tick others off though. love the idea of these necklaces.

ITS GOING TO MAKE A GREAT GIFTIt came a little crushed but I fixed it with some double sided tape. I got one from pro bass shops but wanted to buy one for my friends and found this one. I haven’t opened it but when my friends opens it I will edit with more about the quality.

So I bought this as a gift for my wife. The kit came with everything you need and it was a cool little experience we have opening the shell and removing the pearl. Sometimes you see these littlw booths for harvesting you own pearl jewelry at tourist spots near the coast. This is far cheaper and lets you enjoy this activity in thw confort of your home. Pretty neat I would do it again.

This was a neat gift, but the box and wrapping seemed really cheap. Then, when I saw these in a novelty store at the beach for $5.99, I felt kind of duped.
