5 stars cuz at 299$ free shipping and it being one of the only mini component systems of the few that remain that has a separate sub-woofer, albeit a passive one. But you can always add a stand alone powered subwoofer later, though it's probably not needed. The sound is good for the money. Treble and bass are well covered. Midrange needs provision for adjustment to suit your ears which are all different in hearing profiles because we are organic beings. I bought it for cd playing only. I like that it is not one of the clunky revolving big tray multi players as it has 5 separate pop out trays so you have a crisp quick load of the cd instead of the unit revolving slowly around trying to figure out which cd bay has a cd and which does not.The speaker wires can be made longer if you buy a spool of 24gauge for cheap. You want to separate the speakers say 8 ft away from main unit, which means a wire of of at least twice the length to route/hide the wire. The 24 gauge wires that come with it are 6 ft at best. You get more drama and spaciousness with well separated speakers and it is worth the effort to maximize the experience. Put the subwoofer in the middle near the main unit.I'm not saying the mid-range sucks on this unit but it does need provision for adjustment. There is only treble and bass adjustment built in to this unit which is only on the remote. Don't let your dog get a hold of the remote, take good care of it. Anyway recommended for what it is considering whats out there in a budget mini sound system. This ain't no rack system with a Kenwood amp and Advent speakers from the 1970's-not by a long shot. Modern people dont know what a good system sounds like anyway. It's a good and available mini system - 'a bird in hand is worth two in the bush'.The bluetooth is great for those with smart phones. Most modern people will just use that. One other thing is the X-bass is NOT a bass boost. It does not increase the bass beyond the +5 bass setting. What it does is muffle the treble so you wont use it except maybe if playing music in the background in a store, waiting room or during low volume conversation at a quiet gathering in which you dont want to draw attention away from peoples thoughts, but it does not enhance the listening experience.

The sound quality from this stereo is unlike any other. The quality of the stereo is phenomenal and so is the sound. The 5 CD changer is great, yet is a little complicated at times, but not bad at all. The volume goes to 30, which would easily be enough to hear outside with your windows closed. It's a great size for everything it does and fits nicely on a bookshelf. Definitely worth the money!

First the negative, this Unit is a little too dependent on the remote control for some of the functions. Some may only be used with the remote, so lose or break that and you're in trouble. Replacement remote is between 40 and 50 Dollars, IF you can find one. I bought an extra one from Dan's Electronics. The display could be bigger in order to display more information while playing or searching for folders when using the USB. Difficult to navigate through the USB files and you'll have to have a index printed yourself of all the songs and albums(folders) on your USB drive. Otherwise it's a guessing game as to where the music you want to hear is on the drive. The unit does hold 65025 MP3/WMA files. Total number of folders (albums) is 999. The display only shows MP3 folders, and only up to 32 characters. I downloaded at least a couple of hundred CDs from my collection to a thumb drive(flash) and mainly why I bought this particular unit to listen to music from that drive without having to constantly change out CDs or tapes. You can play entire folders(albums) but this unit does not support playlists. Something I don't care for either is that once that folder is played the unit shuts off instead of just going to the next folder and playing until you turn off the unit yourself. The bluetooth will play nicely but is limited to how much battery you have on your phone or whatever. There is a 5 disc CD changer and although it works perfectly now I actually wonder how durable it will be over time. It just seems like it struggles to do it's job loading and unloading with thin plastic shelves. Guess I'm just used to the older ones that are thicker and maybe heavier duty.Over all this is a great unit and it has really great sound with plenty of power. It was delivered securely packed and although I was concerned about having it shipped and "basketball" tested by the delivery companies, there wasn't any apparent damage at all to the unit and everything I've used has performed perfectly. (I haven't used the Bluetooth, NFC, headphone jack, MP3/WMA disc, or audio in jack) I did purchase the extra SubWoofer and would recommend it for those who enjoy music at it finest although it sounds great without it the SW just adds to the overall performance. I am very pleased with this purchase and would buy it again. I've had this one for about two weeks and put it through a lot of testing during that time.
