Reviews may say medium power with fast action, but it is vay beyond medium power, it is hard, tough. Most rookies will break it into half while casting. It is a nice solid rod with fast action even with light lures, crankbaits. Cork handle is a preference, it does not get wet, damp, it's a huge advantage For the ones in cold weather, like me in Montreal. I'd prefer it for big fish rather than using for small fish or LRF etc. Do not buy it looking at it's size if this will be your first spin rod. But if you are experienced, this can be a life time enjoyable piece of art, you will love it.

The rod looks the same as advertised, it is a 6-feet 6-inch rod. It is medium/heavy power not just medium. It is also fast action. It is a very good rod for the price point, honestly I would pay 50$ for it if it was advertised as a bait caster, but as a casting rod kind of sucks.p.s. It is good for bass fishing using drop shot to feel the bottom of the lake.

Over the years of fishing, that's 50 and still counting thank the Lord, I have had many more rods than reels. This one I picked up just because of its medium weight, but you know, the way it's made, it has a lot more feel to it than I ever expected. I have casted very lightweight lures with it, no problem. Heavy lures, no problem. Touch a weed, or get a small strike, it tells you right away. Unbelievable value, wonderfully made, simple and easy to hold with the pistol grip. Then again, how often does Shimano make a mistake when they make fishing equipment. Highly recommended.
